Facebook Makes it Easy to Hide Incriminating Pics from Your Boss

Just because you added your boss to your network of friends on Facebook doesn't mean you want him/her to see what you did over the weekend. Same holds true for your Aunt Mabel. To address this, Facebook has revamped its Groups feature so you can be more selective over who sees what.
"Today we're announcing a completely overhauled, brand new version of Groups," Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced in a blog post. "It's a simple way to stay up to date with small groups of your friends and to share things with only them in a private space. The default setting is Closed, which means only members see what's going on in a group.
"From this space, you can quickly post photos, make plans, and keep up with ongoing conversations. You can also group chat with members who are online right now. You can even use each group as an email list to quickly share things when you're not on Facebook."
In addition to the revamped Groups feature, Facebook now gives you the option of downloading everything you've ever posted to the social networking site.
"To protect your information, this feature is only available after confirming your password and answering appropriate questions," Zuckerberg said. "We'll begin rolling out this feature to people later today, and you'll find it under your account settings."
Finally, Facebook is launching a new dashboard "to give you visibility into how applications use your data to personalize your experience." Once it begins to roll out, you'll have a single view of all the apps you've authorized and what data they use by navigating to your Facebook privacy settings.

facebook is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends who a state, or country away. sure people post stupid stuff, spend way too much time on it, or do things they wish they didn't, but thats where common sense comes in. sure its not perfect, the social network on this scale is still a new concept and will require refinement, but thats what this article is about, them refining their idea.
i don't get where all this facebook hate is coming from. people who never tried it and just believe the media hype, or no one accepts their friend request.

Facebook is a trainwreck. I'm really stunned that people are dumb enough to make it as popular as it is these days. Facebook democratizes your relationships to the point of oblivion and everything they've done for privacy has been either counter productive or is an afterthought.

What I suspected along time ago is coming to fruition, all of this Internet BS is the same as the CB craze of days gone by. 10-4 good buddy, 10 minutes of fame. Whats next ? The more you play up this waste of time the less we solve the real problems of our society.
