EVGA Shows Off Dual-Socket Super Record 3 (SR3) X79 Motherboard
This will go down as the greatest week ever for anyone who can never get enough sneak peeks of upcoming motherboards. EVGA joins Gigabyte and MSI in uploading pictures of slabs of silicon built around Intel's X79 chipset for Sandy Bridge-E processors, and it's the only one out of the three to equip its board with not one, but TWO LGA 2011 sockets!
Imagine dropping a pair of Sandy Bridge-EP Xeon chips into your system and surrounding the chips with four-way SLI and gobs of RAM by filling up 12 DIMM slots (eight are wired to Socket 0 and four are wired to Socket 1). If you have the capital, EVGA has the foundation for building a system that will not only run Crysis and fold proteins like a banshee, but will do almost anything else you ask of it.
There are seven PCI Express x16 slots in all, four of them PCI-E 3.0 x16 and all of them capable of running PCI-E 3.0 x8. You'll also find 14 SATA ports, two GbE LAN ports, 8+2 channel HD audio, USB 3.0, eSATA, 8-phase digital PWM circuitry around the DIMM slots, 6+1 phase digital PWM around the CPU sockets, a pair of 8-pin EPS and three 6-pin PCI-E connectors, DIP switches to toggle PCI-E slots and SATA ports, voltage measurement points, an all POSCAP design, UEFI bios, and more. Wipe your drool.

illusionslayer is right.. that was the first thing that popped into my mind.. Dream Machine 2012 motherboard.. with 48 GB of RAM!! If this isn't in DM2012 then someone must have released a three LGA 2011 socketed mobo!!

I think you could right on this. We will have to wait and see. I did pick the last mobo for the dream machine with the last dual cpu set-up. Next summer is a long way from now. I'll wait untill May/june before I make any kind of predictions.

That thing is a beast!!! I can only wish I can build it. I don't even want to imagine the price for this mobo. I feel you can run Crysis + Crysis 2 and then some. Lol.

I would bet a lot of people would. did you see the response to this years not-so-over-the-top dream machine? people want war machines, not "nice" computers.

When you have the gall to call it a "Dream" Machine it had better be faster than it's predecessor.
Or am I not alone in my dreams of ever less powerful machines?
