EVGA Launches 4-Way SLI Motherboard
Running a pair of dual-GPU GTX 295 videocards gives gamers quad-SLI bragging rights, but if you're really serious about driving Crysis cranked up on your swank 30-inch display, EVGA's new 4-way motherboard might be just what you're looking for.
EVGA's X58 Classified 4-Way SLI board supports up to four videocards and coincides with the company's 4-way compatible GTX 285 Classified videocard. Currently the fastest single-GPU videocard on the planet, four GTX 285 cards should trump two GTX 295 cards in just about any situation.
All that design decadence comes at the cost of case real estate and you'll need a chassis that supports the XL-ATX form factor. Measuring 13.5 inches by 10.3 inches, EVGA warns you'll need a case with 9 or more expansion slots, or handy modding skills.
The 4-way board is available for pre-order now for $450 direct from EVGA.

Ok, according to EVGA's Website, ONE "GTX285 Classified" can use up to 640w of power because it has three 6 pin connectors.
2560 watts for 4 cards.
Never mind the rest of the computer... just the video cards.
A standard US electrical socket supports 1300 watts, hence that is the maximum you will see on any US power supply, the exception being the 1600 watt Koolance PSU, and it only gets that high when operating on 220V outside the US.
Cool yes, but there is no game that can trully take advantage of this system, nor while there ever be, since the GTX285 Classfied isn't DX11 compatible.

Yeah the game doesn't scale well with Multi-GPU setups, but Crysis is also very badly coded.

Calm down man, it's a product review. The idea of a review is to critique something and then state the author's overall opinion of it. No one is forcing you to buy it.

I'd hate to see how load it would be running 4 high end GPU's in quad-sli...

Yeah, but it's not going to match the performance of one high end GPU, not to mention 4 high end GPU's in Quad-SLI...

Even though this board is based on the X58 chipset, there is nothing to indicate support for Crossfire. No crossfire logo on the box, no mention of it in the specifications for the board, nothing. I'm wondering if this board is not licensed for Crossfire just as Intel's X58 motherboard is not licensed for SLI. If that is the case, then ASUS's otherwise identical P6T7 Supercomputer mobo would seem to have leg up on this mobo.

i think you are missing the 4x SLi thing. p6t7 supports only 3x SLi.

This reminds me of MPC's "Ultimate Motherboard" (I forgot where I saw it). Now all it needs is a socket AM3 version (*crosses fingers*) and then EVGA would be synonymous with awesome.

I wonder if the board will be certified by the American Redundancy Association of America...

so, only 4 graphic cards can be used in sli? and what one would do with the rest useless 3 slots? (well, ok, probably whoever going to do that would have cards that take up 2 slots, but still)

Not useless. Remember, a larger PCI-E slot can be used for any smaller card. a x16 slot typically used for graphics can be used for an x1, x2, x4, or x8 card also.

This is sorta like Skulltrail. It's an oddity and will probably be king of the hill for a short time, but the next batch of video cards will probably trump this setup. I'd love to build it, but would feel silly down the road running four cards when they no longer deliver the best performance.

considering that this mobo uses alot of fine parts.....and that its huge and made for enthusiasts is the reason for the 450 dollar pricetag

Lol can't argue with that. I really don't mind the Mac ads, but as the other guy said, it's annoying to press next everytime you want to read an article, and I know of adblock, I'm just too lazy to install it :D

Are you that much of a fanboy that an apple add threatens your manhood? I'm no apple lover by any stretch of the imagination, but i don't get angry because I see adds for their products.
A little diversity now and then never hurt anyone.

Maybe he just thinks its annoying as shit.
You go to Maximumpc.com and find an interesting article, then have to click the god damn 'next' button to get past Apple ads every damn time.
Next, next next next next next.. I almost feel like I'm going to get spyware.

I don't like Apples deceptive advertising. It can be funny with hi i am a mac stuff but its very deceptive and they won't get any of my business because of it. This site is for the personal computer not for a computer were a business tells you what you can have and what you can't have. I am not a fanboy of anybody, i have my preferances and stuff i ignore just like everybody else.
