Bejeweled 3 and Plants vs Zombies.. two games that are dirt cheap ($20 or less) I'd rather purchase than get for free from this deal since offering them for free for the debacle seems like an insult, especially with the other games on the list being a bit higher end titles even though old

The fact that not a single game on that list is even remotely interesting to me speaks volumes about EA's problems -- even moreso than the SimCity fiasco. Apparently Riccitiello realized that as well, since he walked away yesterday. (Or more likely was "asked" to walk away.)

You freakin kidding?

BF3 is amazing!

Has the game improved? I want to buy it, but not if it's still a mess

Let's see...got Sim City 2000 on GOG (again). Got Sim City 3000 (again) as GoodWill for like $5.00. I've had Sim City 4 Deluxe for years and never got around to actually playing it...why exactly would I want to play ANOTHER Sim City game that will probably play glacially slow on my PC? Especially when I also have Civilization IV which I played once and found boring and Civ V and it's expansion which I got for free and then never played?

What I really want to play when I have some time...is Alpha Centauri with Alien Crossfire. Now THAT'S a great PC game!

1.1 million sold. Looks like we voted with our wallets, and failed DRM is here to stay!

Looks like BF3 is probably the best bet...

BF 3 has been dead really after 3rd xp. There was too many balancing issues and alot of people move to Arma II or another game. I would look at something else besides the standard edition.

DR_JDUBZ

not, no one is online anymore, no thanks to the first 6 months of unplayability due to crashes in between rounds, and the game over all is shit compared to past battlefield games and the environment is only partially destroyable......GAY AS FUCK. Dont buy from EA in the first place! period

Hmm, when where you last online or ever online. Or at least on pc. Bf3 is a big hit and their newest DLC's our are adding more and more people. BF3 is a big hit and many people are still enjoying it even when the game is a year old and people are looking forward to bf4 to come out. EA is not the best, but they have their moments with their games. Their are tons of tons people still online playing battlefield after realizing they wasted money on the latest COD game.

buttersoft

Agree with most of what Blackbird says. But BF3 is a console port, and it both feels and smells like one, and that stinks. The netcode is rubbish, the gameplay has been simplified for casual players, and destruction is a gimmick rather than the game-changer it was in BC2.

I love the game, i'm still playing competition, and i'll be buying BF4, but DICE are capable of so much more. Unf they're a business, and pwned by EA.

I've activated and I still haven't gotten my email for a free game... ? Going to have to complain about this too. Not a complainer but, really? Might be the last time I buy from them no matter what the game is, jesus christ.

avatar

jonnyohio

Well, they said they would offer it to you. They didn't say you'd actually get. Lol

avatar

boidsonly

EA could give me the new SimCity and I would not play it. I disagree with always online and I am voting with my cash. I'll spend it on another non EA game...

EA, are you listening?!

There are eight titles to choose from, including:
Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
Bejeweled 3
Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
Plants vs Zombies
SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition

That's more like six titles if you exclude Plants vs Zombies, which is often found at a discount and was even given away for free from PopCap games last Halloween, and Bejeweled 3, another casual title that would be a waste to choose.

Anyone else only count 7, 5 after MaximumPC takes away two?

fonto

They were missing the recent Medal of Honor turd.

where is the apology for forcing us to use their sh*tty service (origin) in this first place? Get your thumbs out of your collective arses and put your games up on steam so I might actually buy a few of them.

+1

A decent linux distro w/GUI and increased takeup of Steam on linux meaning companies are forced to release would be a godsend.

avatar

jstein076

I still havent recieved my email for my free game. I bet there is some loophole for activation that will magically appear so they can get out of this...

Pretty weak on EA's part. How about making sure the damn game works to begin with (including a stand-alone option) and then you won't have to be tossing out old games as a bone to the players.

Bewjeweled 3 and Plants vs Zombies? SimCity 4 (released TEN years ago and any SimCity fan already has)? Seriously??

avatar

The Valar

I hope the free games do not require internet access also....
....getting tired of this crap.

Take this in point:
Internet is out, cable is out, and I am bored wanting to play a game... can't...

Or just I am poor and have no internet.... can't...

Or my firewall is all f'ed up, or overkilled settings... can't

EA is becoming a joke.
Was looking forward to them LEARNING a lesson here.

avatar

Blackbird24

True, but I'm able to play Medal of Honor and BF3 single player offline. You just got to know how to work with Origin.

avatar

tom_m

If you're talking about an always-on Internet connection, I'm not aware of the games on this list needing that. You will need an Internet connection to activate and download the game through Origin, though. I don't think the offer includes boxed copies (which would still need an Internet connection to activate through Origin).

avatar

mh15216

WHAT!? No free pong, or 35 games for Windows 95? Surely they could swing a copy of the original DOOM title, or Sim City 2000!

Simply awesome!
