Streaming high end games over the internet has been a "pie in the sky" hope for decades (just like streaming video was). With Gaas, local servers and low latency, it just might be possible now.
Microsoft mentioned that some of the game computing for the XBox One is going to be offloaded to the cloud while playing, creating a much more powerful gaming experience than just having the game played on on the console itself. This is one of the reasons for all those high end servers they are touting and the always connected internet.
With just a smart TV and a bunch of controllers, imagine renting Halo 4 over the web. That truly would be the end of consoles (and game disks, heh).
