E3 2008: Microsoft Expects Xbox 360 to Remain Ahead of PS3

After Microsoft had tantalized attendees with a few breathtaking glimpses of Gears of War 2 gameplay at its E3 2008 press conference, Microsoft devices division VP Don Mattrick took to the stage for the mandatory chest-thumping talk. He pompously announced that he expects Xbox 360 to trounce PS3 over the entire course of the current console cycle.

Then he triumphantly stated that Xbox Live had generated more than $1 billion in sales and dispersed 500 million pieces of content. Microsoft also announced that it has partnered with NBC and Universal who will now make their content available through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Interestingly, Microsoft never made any statements regarding how it plans to wrest the no.1 spot from Nintendo. Has it relinquished all such hopes and desires? Have your say.

For this console generation, the Wii has already crossed the finishline to claim 1st place. Xbox and PS3 are battling for 2nd.

There's alot more to do with the 360's lead other than price or looks...

From what I've seen to date that pushes sales

- Xbox Live
- Media Centre Extender capability
- The internal UI is fairly easy to use
- Number of titles available
- Ability to purchase and watch movies online (pre and current netflix deal)
- Price
- Success of it's previous bretherin (despite being owned by the PS2)

the only thing the 360 has on the ps3 is xbox live. it dosent have blu-ray or instructions on how to replace components later down the road, my friend has a ps3 and i flipped through the manual.

 the wii will stay at the top, parents would reather their kids playing wii sports instead of gears of war 2

Yeah, it is sick. But Xbox 360 was never the best console, aesthetically speaking.
