Duracell’s Familiar-Looking myGrid Charges Devices Wirelessly

Still getting up off the couch to plug your iPod and other mobile gadgets into an outlet so they can recharge? Pfft - real couch potatoes juice up their devices wirelessly, with the newest way to do so being Duracell's new myGrid charging pad.
If Duracell's myGrid looks oddly familiar, it's because WildCharge has a similar device on the market called the Wire-Free. Like the Wire-Free, the myGrid is stupid-easy to use. Just plug the pad into your wall and drop your power-hungry devices onto the pad, up to four at a time.
Duracell boasts compatibility with a number of mobile devices, including the iPod Touch, iPhone 3G, both the Blackberry Pearl and Curve, and several Motorola and Nokia devices.
The myGrid will be available in October for $80.

No insulting, but its still wired because you have to plug in an device at the charging port of the device (e.g. iphone) and the pad transfers the device that charges the iphone so it still wired.

To have it wireless you have to plug the wirless elecricity receiver to the jack of the phone and hook up to a wireless electricity jack station therefore feeding the phone to charge around 10-20 meters would count as wireless but this is just a multi phone jack that you can't remotely charge the phone when it's in your pocket.

What a waste you still have to plug something in why not just plug in the charger that came with the devise? If i could just lay my phone on this thing and it would charge it then that would be worthy of a story on maximumPC. Bring back maximumBS.

You plug the charger in once.Then you just, "just lay my phone on this thing and it would charge". So it is cool. The thing you plug in is the pad, so it has power to wirelessly send the devices.

Interesting technology. Not useful.
First of all, its not really wireless. Second, I still have to plug a something into my device to get it to work... and it has to sit on the pad to charge.... at least when it is plugged into a charger I can still use the device.
And I have an iphone... so I guess I would have to get one of the cases for the phone to get the thing to work... and the charging cable that I currently use also double for the interface with the PC, sooo... I would have to take the phone out of the case to attach it to my data cable which charges the phone anyway?
I guess I could leave the thing by my nightstand to charge the phone at night when I am not using it... but it is easier, and cheaper, to just buy and extra charger and cord for the phone and let it sit there anyway.
Again, cool tech... not useful.

Not useful for you, perhaps, but for me this is awesome. Between my wife and I, we have four Blackberries that need charging almost every night. We have one of those charging consoles (with a hidden power strip) on a table in the hallway, and it works fairly well, but the cords always get tangled and when all four devices are plugged in they're sitting on top of each other in a heap. I hate that.
This charging pad will reduce clutter and frustration a great deal for us. Being able to simply (lightly) toss both my Blackberries down on this pad and walk away will be so nice. No more fumbling with stupid cords and those tiny connectors. And, when family/friends come over to stay for the weekend or longer, as long as their phone is compatible they can easily charge up without having to dig out their charger (god forbid they left it at home).
Very useful for me.
**** EDIT: Wait, scratch that... Need to have a special sleeve for the Curve and Pearl, which is what we have. I don't think I'll bother. I should have read those specs a little more closely. Nevermind. Please move along.

i dunno even with a sleve having a wireless pad vus a nest of wires is a big pluss to me and who knows in the future...remotes? Mice? PSPs?
