Dual-Core Ivy Bridge CPUs Reportedly Shipping Second Week of May
Those of you holding out to build a low cost system around Intel's Ivy Bridge platform will have to sit through an intial wave of quad-core processors before the dual-core variants are released. Intel is reportedly kicking off Ivy Bridge on or around April 8, 2012, with the launch of the core i7 3920XM, 3829M, and 3720QM, along with the HM77, UM77, HM76, and HM75 chipsets.
A month later, Intel will roll out a second batch of Ivy Bridge parts consisting of dual-core and ultra low voltage (ULV) processors beginning the week of May 6th, Fudzilla reports. Dual-core chips scheduled for release include the Core i7 3520M (35W), Core i5 3360M (35W), Core i7 3667U (17W), and Core i5 3427U (17W). The launch will also include the QS77 and QM77 chipsets.
Prices have yet to announced or leaked, but you have to imagine the dual-core chips will be fairly affordable.
