Digital Storm's Level 4 Intel X79 Gaming PC is Ready to Smash Benchmarks (and Your Savings Account)
With the launch of Intel's Core i7 3930K six-core Sandy Bridge-E processor, companies we haven't heard from in awhile are coming out of the woodwork to announce products built around or for Intel's X79 chipset. One of the those companies is Digital Storm, a boutique system builder that now offers a pre-configured Level 4 gaming PC that's about as no-compromise as we've ever seen in a pre-assembled system.
"ODE Level 4 is the next evolution in our quest to give customers the optimal gaming experience, without the hassle and expense of having to individually select each component," commented Rajeev Kuruppu, Digital Storm's Director of Product Development. "With the addition of the X79 chipset, our engineers have configured a system that offers bleeding edge technology that delivers unparalleled performance per dollar."
The part selection needs no hype or marketing spin; these components pretty much speak for themselves. This is what an ODE Level 4 gaming PC is made of:
- Corsair Graphite Series 600T white computer case
- Intel Core i7 3930K processor (3.2GHz, six cores)
- Asus Sabertooth X79 motherboard
- 16GB of DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance Series memory
- 120GB Corsair Force GT Series SATA 6Gbps SSD
- 1TB hard drive (7200 RPM, 32MB cache)
- Three Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 videocards configured in tri-SLI
- Blu-ray player
- Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional soundcard
- Asetek liquid CPU cooler
- Interal lighting system
- Corsair 1050W Pro Silver power supply
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Talk about a sick configuration, and if all that weren't enough, Digital Storm says it will overclock the processor to anywhere from 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz before it ships. Wicked. So is the price tag -- a pre-configured Level 4 machine will set you back $3,599.

I can speak from experience as I have a level 3 ODE. Digital Storm makes incredible computers, but it's the customer service that's worth it's weight in gold. These guys actually talked me out of an upgrade, to be purchased from them, and to wait for the driver update that was coming.
I priced everything out through NewEgg and the pricing is right on if you wanted to build this yourself.
NewEgg: before shipping..$3288
Digital Storm: before shipping..$3599.
So for $311, you get lighting in the case (I couldn't price that out), every component works (no DOA, which can happen), it had 72 hours of continuous stress testing, and the best customer service in the industry of "boutique" computer shops.
I've been building computers for 20 years, I'm a Sr. Systems Administrator, I am a hard core gamer, I'm 40 years old and don't have time to dick around with parts anymore. As long as Digital Storm sticks around, they have a life long customer in me.

With the gear and price being fair and feedback like that, this is about the only time I've considered buying a prebuilt. I'll check them out again in a couple generations of GPUs when I feel ready for a new machine.

Dear game developers,
This is why you should keep developing PC games. PC gamers have money and we spend it. Console gamers are just going to resell your game to Gamestop so someone else doesn't pay full price.
Sincerely,
A PC Gamer :)
