". Does this mean machine interest you at all?"

Absolutely.  To me, it's always been the "Mac Killer".  Mac enthusiasts love comparing things like the Power Mac (tower) against a lowly $500 PC and then claim superiority.  The Dell Precision line has always been in the same class as the Power Mac...and always been better (imo)

So, this would compete against the new Mac Book Pros...and I'd take one over a MB Pro any day.

Even against some of the most gimpped PCs a Mac doesn't stand up to it.  I build a little Mini ITX machine that can only have 2GB of RAM, and has an Atom processor in it and it still out did my friends newer Mac.

It looks good, but that doesn't change the fact that dell machines are crap.

My Dell is awesome, Intel Core 2 Quad 9400, 8gb ram, 2tb hard drive (primary), 640gb (secondary), Bluray burner, DVD burner, ATI Radeon 5870.  Dual 24" 1920x1080 monitors runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I only put in the 2tb hdd, Bluray drive (came with second DVD drive), gpu (came with nvidia 9800gt originally) the second monitor and installed W7.

Bought it a few years ago too.

The computer even when it was stock was a monster.

I will wait for pricing on this notebook before I think about buying it.

Good luck with the power supply. Dell ALWAYS cheaps out on that.

My old high school bought 26 dells in mid 2007. 4 of them died just a few weeks ago. Can't get anything out of them. Asked around and found out the other schools in my area are having the same problem.

4 out of 26? And they're not even 3 years old. 2Ghz core2 duos, 2GB DDR2 533, 80GB HDDs, Cheapest ATI cards out there, 250 watt power supplies.

Dell is shit.

2.5 years out of a cheap Dell is not that bad.  Especially since they only had a 250Watt PSU in it.  When you put a low power supply in it like that you are asking for problems When my family buys a Dell I immediately put a good power supply in it.
