Who sets their computer on the floor to use it? and a hard wood floor at that. If I had to place money in it, she dropped it on the floor and something broke and shorted out causing that freshly charged battery to puke its guts out. Should that happen from dropping the unit? Probably not. But usually drops aren't covered under the warranty.

I place my laptop on the floor as well, when  need to ge tup to use the head or get something from the kitchen. I do not sit on my chair or sofa, especially a Dell as they are know for overheating far more than any other brand.

at least dell has some pretty decent services instead of the "haha we told ya so!" type of shit.

I'll say this about Dell if something breaks it may be a hassle but they usually do you right. When my laptop had to be sent back to fix the mother board 3 time in 4 months eventually they just sent a fully upgraded newer model.

on how you view "do you right". I mean, it wasn't that long ago there was a quote from Micheal Dell on this very website in regards to him hoping Windows 7 would not be another Vista yet Dell pushed Vista pretty heavy from the get go.
