DDR3 DRAM Pricing is Lower than Ever

Consumers continue to benefit from an oversupply of DRAM memory chips and prices so low that chip makers are struggling just to stay afloat, let alone flip a profit. The DRAM market has struggled for several years now, and at some point, you have to believe prices will go back up. We're not at that point yet, and in fact prices for DDR3 memory are at an all-time low.

According to news and rumor site Fudzilla, there's never been a better time to stock up on DDR3 memory. Fudzilla claims memory prices are hitting new lows in Europe in the U.S., and supports its argument by pointing out an 8GB DDR3-1333 kit of Team Group memory selling for €23.99 in Germany and $27.99 in the State. It's not a blistering fast kit, mind you, but respectable for the price with 9-9-9-24 timings and heatspreaders instead of naked DIMMs.

That's as cheap we were able to find in the U.S., though we did spy several other 8GB kits (2x4GB) going for $34.99. You can also find several notebook memory kits (SO-DIMM) for reduced prices, as well.

"Here’s some food for thought. A year ago Kingston’s ValueRAM 4GB SO-DIMM module cost €54 and two years ago it retailed for a saucy €243. Now it sells for just €14," Fudzilla points out.

It's hard to imagine memory prices getting even cheaper, but then again, we've been saying that ever since the DRAM market tanked.
