DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 is Kingston's Fastest USB Flash Drive Yet
Knigston today announced a new entry to its USB flash drive line, the DateTraveler HyperX 3.0. As you can easily guess from its name, this is a thumb drive built to take advantage of your system's SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports for fast data transfers, and towards that end, Kingston says its the company's fastest flash drive ever.
The DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 sports a high-speed eight-channel architecture for USB 3.0 transfer speeds of up to 225MB/s read and 135MB/s write. When plugged into a USB 2.0 port, it's rated at up to 30MB/s for both read and write instructions.
"Enthusiasts have long known HyperX as the memory of choice for overclockers and power users who need the most performance from system memory," said Andrew Ewing, flash memory business manager, Kingston. "The new DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 USB flash drive continues this tradition. With the fastest speeds and largest capacity, this storage device is the perfect solution for users who require high performance and carry a lot of data."
Speaking of capacity, the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 is available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB models, the largest of which can store the equivalent of 10 Blu-ray discs, 54 DVDs, over 48,000 MP3s (4MP each), or more than 13 million Microsoft Word files with graphics, Kingston says.
The 64GB carries an MSRP of $193 and the 128GB is priced at $377. Kingston is still deciding what to charge for the 256GB model. No word on availability.
