D-Link Ships Super Small Wireless-N Adapters
Every tech should have a wireless dongle in his/her emergency kit, and if you don't have one already, D-Link hopes you'll consider one of its new fun-sized models. D-Link's Wireless N 150 Pico Adapter (DWA-121) and Wireless N USB Adapter (DWA-131) both sport a compact design that makes for easy storage and can be plugged into a laptop or desktop without sticking out like a, well, typical dongle.
"With extremely compact designs – the Pico is about the size of a dime – these new adapters are ideal for setting up a high-performance wireless connection while on the road or in a packed conference room," said Daniel Kelley, associate vice president of consumer marketing, D-Link North America. "They enable consumers to quickly and easily connect a desktop computer or laptop to a Wi-Fi network in order to securely browse the Internet, transfer and download files, music, videos, and more at their convenience."
The DWA-121 supports speeds of up to 150Mbps and the DWA-131 up to 300Mbps. The latter model additionally supports Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS) push button.
Both the 121 and 131 are available now, and both are priced at $50.

Would this work only with a D-link router? Or any brand router as long as it is a Dual N?

In my experience the PCI adapters have better coverage than USB adapters, but they work for novices who don't know how to install internal components.
And, unless the laptop is too old to be useful (and not have one), the internal wireless PCI card can be upgraded...much better option and a freed-up USB port.

I'm still waiting for the 5Ghz-equivalent part to go with the Netgear WNCE2001. Using the 5Ghz radio, 300Mbps speeds while using AC or USB for power and leveraging the ethernet port as it was intended would be a homerun in this market!

not bad, especially on that price point, but...........
There's a lot of situations where you simply need a bigger antenna. I have a pico blue tooth adapter, and while it's great, it also picks up more interference and has a shorter range than the full sized blue tooth antenna in my other laptop and cellphones. I suppose it's a tradeoff though, because I have snapped off larger dongles swinging the old road warrior around.
