CyberPowerPC Screams "First!" with 8-Core Gamer Scorpius Desktop
The folks at CyberPowerPC just announced their new Gamer Scorpius line claiming it's the world's first 8-core gaming desktop line powered by AMD's brand spanking new Bulldozer architecture. And so it begins. We suspect this is just the first of many Bulldozer-based announcements to come out of the boutique system building scene, but can the rest compete on price?
CyberPowerPC's starting price for a Scorpius Gamer equipped with a Bulldozer chip is $535, which buys you an AMD FX-4100 (3.6GHz, quad-core) processor. Stepping up to a six-core FX-6100 (3.3GHz), eight-core FX-8120 (3.1GHz), or eight-core FX-8150 (3.6GHz) runs an additional $64, $100, or $160 respectively.
Other default options include a Xion Predator 970 mid-tower chassis, Asetek 510LC liquid-cooling solution, Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 motherboard, 8GB of DDR3-1600 memory, Nvidia GeForce GT 520 videocard, 1TB SATA 6Gbps hard drive, 24X DVD burner, 450W power supply, and keyboard/mouse. Add another $104 for Windows Home Premium 64-bit, bringing the tally to $639.
Not a bad little machine, and as always, upgrade options abound. On a related note, you can check out our review of Bulldozer here.

Yes, but the scorpius machine will soon be defeated by the John Chrichton machine.

At least label your ads as such.
I don't care how inexpensive it is, putting a GT520 into a machine with "Gamer" in the name is deceptive at best. It's downright dishonest to market something as a gaming PC when it couldn't keep playable framerates in Halflife 2.
I understand that's the baseline, but the baseline should be capable of handling it's intended purpose. If I bought a Ford Fiesta, I'd be pretty upset if it couldn't go 55MPH, even if it's not Porche.

That certainly changes the meaning a tad, doesn't it? Nice catch.
