Copyright Holders Seek To Block Pirate Bay In UK
BT, the UK’s leading telecom was recently ordered by the High Court to block access to the Usenet site Newzbin2, and it appears that copyright holders are trying to capitalize on that victory. BT was recently approached by a group consisting of music labels and movie studios and asked to voluntarily block The Pirate Bay, the torrent site that just won't die. Should they refuse, BT was promised a court battle not unlike the one they just wnet through.
At this point, BT is refusing to block the site on the industry’s say so. The customary court order will be obtained, but it will likely be contested in court. That’s when things can get drawn-out and messy, though. “The Pirate Bay is no more than a huge scam on the global creative sector. It defrauds musicians and other creators of their wages, and it destroys UK jobs,” BPI chief Geoff Taylor said.
The Pirate Bay is fond of laughing off these attempts to block it as “free advertising.” Even if an ISP starts a DNS blockade of the site, as has happened in other countries, users find ways around it. Do you think The Pirate Bay will ever be taken down?

So many tools, here's about 20:
1) PeerBlock
2) - about 20) Everyone's Guide to Bypassing Internet Censorship:
http://www.nartv.org/mirror/circ_guide.pdf
(Look at the last half of the guide, around page 17.)
Pass it on.
So much more, that I could add...

Nobody can stop PIRACY, here in the Philippines even goverment offices or officials surely use pirated things like pirated movies and OS'es. There is an option though if they want to lessen it, lower their prices so majority of the people can already afford it :D. Would you pay $100 for a piece of game or software if you can't even afford to purchase a legit OS ^_^ hahahaha we'll that's the real problem here on my country it's called "POVERTY".

I do not use torrents, I pirate by ripping straight from legit sites. If I can not find what I am looking for, then I use my favorite Russian site that has it all. I think I'll go ahead and rip me some Sherlok Holmes...

That is the exact same thing and probably more virus prone. But do whatever you like I guess.

How can you get a virus from legit sites??? I just rip from legit sites. Each video you watch on Google, YouTube, Hulu, whatever... Is downloaded onto your hard drive. Just convert the *.flv to whichever format you please. Nothing virus-prone from that. Of course, my anti-virus program is here to protect me.

Gee... just like DRM, people WILL FIND WAYS AROUND IT. It happens EVERY time! Besides, even if they get taken down there, other sites exist. If they are blocked via DNS, people will just start using their IP. Besides, there are things that I think just aren't worth paying for and therefore I will pirate (or otherwise live without). Adobe software, for instance...

I think I'll upload a couple terabytes tonight, just as a little wink to the RIAA.
