Cooler Master Makes Splash in Mouse Market with Twin Lasers
Posted 08/19/09 at 03:25:17 PM by Paul Lilly
Best known for its case and cooling products, Cooler Master this week announced its first mouse, the Sentinel Advance. Not an entry-level product, Cooler Master claims the professional-grade Sentinel is two years in the making.
The biggest standout on the feature list is the super sensitive 5600 DPI sensor, which CM says is the result of using twin lasers, Doppler Effect processing, and real-time tracking technology (as opposed to software prediction).
Other goodies include customizable macros and scripts, LED colors and light effects, a modular weight system, 64k internal firmware ROM for saving your settings, and even an OLED screen for displaying customized clan logos or whatever else you want your rodent to show off.
No word yet on price or availability.

Cooler Mouster?

I know everyone is trying to diversify as much as possible right now, but does anyone else think it's silly for a company named COOLER Master to make a mouse?
The design

The design is tempting me. But I need to try it first.

will it really be that huge of an upgrade over my trusty G5? unlikely. i think the gains would be minimal.

Yeah... I don't think anything is going to pry the G9 from my hands for awhile.
OLED? FAIL! it will probs drive the price right up. Sorta reminds me of that over-hyped russian keyboard with the oled screen keys. Unless you are going to put your mouse on static display on your desk, I dont see the point of having a screen that your hand will cover most of the time... unless you have a mouse odometer on it.
Anything's Hot Swappable if you're fast enough...
Nice One

Expect to spend between $75-$100.
Button placement looks poor.

Button placement looks poor. I have to wonder if the people who design mice actually have fingers.
Looks like an awesome mouse.

Looks like an awesome mouse. I've been looking for something like this for a while. Bummer it's not wireless, though. I guess I'll have to wait longer.
If it was wireless then it

If it was wireless then it might lag occasionally, plus it could die on you in the middle of a match. Wired will make it respond faster and you'll never have to worry about needing to replace or recharge batteries in the middle of a match. No one I know sits far enough away from a computer to NEED a wireless mouse.

I figured this was probably the case. I don't do too much serious gaming. I know it's a gaming mouse and all, but it's damned hard to find anything of the same caliber for non-gaming purposes. I like lots of buttons, and I like lots of programmability-- two features that you typically only see a lot of in gaming mice, which, unfortunately, have wires. My primary computer is a laptop, and going wireless saves a lot of hassle.

How many people are just going to display a crude penis drawing on the OLED?

i missed a good one

They had these for sale at quakecon for $69 at the CM booth to the general. I'm wishing now i had bought one, oh well, the mouse palmed well but felt a little long lenghtwise. Fairly solid construction. I love CM, all of my cases for the last 5 years have been CM cases (since lian li is priced off the earth, lol). I'm very intersted to see the review of these by maxpc versus the G9x by logitech.

From the stats, sounds like a $100 mouse. Cool looking, gimmicky, but too much in these troubled times.
