"All that matters is that you’re a fan at www.facebook.com/maximumpc when the drawing takes place, at 12:01AM on the 26th or that you’ve emailed us by that time. If you enter via email and the Facebook page, it’s a double entry."

There is the clarification! Best of luck to everyone!!

avatar

Ravenhurst

Okay... me and a buddy got in an argument about this... and I won. :) Becomming a FAN of MaxPC on FB is not a qualifiying entry. You have to join their GROUP. So... go to FB and clickity click your group icon on the bottom left. Up top you can find a bar that says: Search Groups. Plug in MaximumPC and you'll find the GROUP.

Or just email them as per the terms and conditions.

The group has about 500, prob 600 now. Who knows how many emails they have received so far. I'd say 1:1500 by the end of the week. We shall see. Good luck!

avatar

"...or join our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/maximumpc."

NOTICE THE URL... Then go look at the group URL... It is different.

I believe you just become a fan.

I joined the group and became a fan to be safe, but the group URL

is completely different than that.

Canadian entrants selected in any drawing will be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by mail or by telephone.

Really? Can anyone tell me why they would have to do that? I'm curious!

avatar

Modred189

It's because there is a wacky law in Canadia that says something along the lines that you cannot win a contest without there being some sort of effort or skill involved. It's usually something like 2x2=?

avatar

nekollx

 it's 22!

Thanks you just answered my question. It read join the "Group" on Facebook and all I could do was becoem a "Fan". Groups and fans are a bit different. But you quoted the fine print (which I admit I misssed) there and it said to "become a fan". So I thank you for taking the time to post that.

Good luck to all. :)

avatar

Havok

You boys complaining should read the fine print more often...

SO you see, you can email OR join as a fan. Just email!

Here we go, maybe I'm alone.  I do not have a Facebook, twitter, MySpace, or another profile that people can see what I'm doing or find out where I am.  Guess what, I am one of the few people that have not been called in to questioning for my "loyalty" to my job.  If you want hits on Facebook then pay uSocial for all the friends you want. As for the contest make one that does not require me to put my name down unless it's by a trusted company like Future US or Imagine Media before it.

You are absolutly right, I should have read the rules!  As for calling me Numbnuts. . . well your a poopy head so yeah.

avatar

Havok

Maximum PC is a Future US publication...

I am well aware of the publisher of Maximum PC just like I'm aware of their previous publisher Imagine Media.  This was meant to show a since of trust in the company that I have been with for years and a bit of sarcasm at the situation.  Sorry if that was not conveyed properly.

avatar

quantumnerd

You triggered it on him. Congratulations!

avatar

Batosi

Really what if we are already a fan? I became one a while back and I would hate to have to make another account just to enter the contest.

avatar

Psychic51

The case listed in the specs says it's a NZXT Beta. It's not...

It is a NZXT case though.

Just trying to clarify:

Do we just become a fan, or is there a particular group we are supposed to join?  I ask because I'm relatively sure that Becoming a Fan and Joining a group are two different things.

avatar

norman

if you're already a fan on facebook, you're already entered into the contest :)

avatar

AntiHero

And if you've accidentally double entered? What happens?

I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.

avatar

EvilHomerGD

So I did the same thing...  Ah well, if I'm out of the running, I'm out of the running...  Would be nice to have a new PC to replace my aging AMD rig...

avatar

nekollx

it would be nice to have a new PC to replace the 10lbs paperweight sitting in my family room :P

I too have been a fan of MaxPC on FB for some time now...  Does that mean I have to send the email to enter or am I automatically entered already?

avatar

AntiHero

I am wondering the exact same thing, I've been a fan for as long as I've used Facebook. I just mailed the contest email, if it counts as a double entry, what will happen? Disqualified..oh well, probability of me winning isn't that high anyhow. Still, awesome pc, and I'd love to get my hands on it.

I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.

avatar

WFUJay

I'm wondering the same thing.

Oooh GAWD... Frak me stronger, Big Daddy, I was a bad girl this year!

"Canadian entrants selected in any drawing will be required to correctly

administered by mail or by telephone."

Anyone care to explain this to me?

avatar

dedgar

Quick, you have 48 days to answer this mathematical question.

What is the sum of 2 + 2?

How's that for "a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question".

avatar

jcollins

So what happens if they fail? :)

avatar

tony487

The Department of Species Propagation removes them from the gene pool

avatar

CuGi

Contests like this need a skill testing question so it isn't a "lottery" and therefoe moving in on our Federal gaming commission.  although  i have no idea how they can give a time limited , without any help skill testing question over snail mail, that just seems weird.

avatar

Kesthan

I'm a long time reader and a listener of the podcast and for once the contest was openned for canadian resident, but I live in Quebec, were the law differs from the rest of Canada.

Bummer! I was a facebook fan from the beginning.
