Computer Business Booming, Over 1 Billion PCs in Use
Handheld gadgets continue to get more powerful and expand upon their capabilities, but don't let anyone try and tell you PCs are dead. On the contrary, over 1 billion computers are being used worldwide, and according to research firm Gartner, that number is expected to double by early 2014. Gartner attributes the success to the increasing predominance of broadband connectivity and the falling cost of PC parts. Dampening the enthusiasm is figuring out what do with the more than 180 million computers that are expected to be replaced this year, most of which will end up rotting in a landfill. Rather than contribute to the problem, consider donating or recycling your old PC instead. Head over to ComputerHope.com for a list of resources that can help you dispose of your old parts, or join your local Freecycle network where it's never difficult to find your retired rig a new home.
