Q2 2009 Chip Sales Increase, Thanks to Atom

In November of last year, Intel's Atom processor was noted as being largely responsible for record growth in the processor market. While no more records are being broken, the processor market continues its upward climb -- to the tune of 10.1 percent in the second quarter of this year -- and once again, Intel's Atom chip is the reason why.

"The percentage of Intel's revenue earned in Asia/Pacific grew from 51 percent in 1Q09 to 55 percent in 2009," Shane Rau, director of Semiconductors: Personal Computing research at IDC, noted in a statement. "This fact, combined with the significant sequential 'snap-back' rise in Intel's overall processor shipments -- particularly Atom shipments -- while AMD's overall shipments were about flat, indicate that the PC processor market didn't recover in 2Q09."

The growth from Q1 to Q2, notes IDC, is mostly attributable to manufacturers replenishing their chip inventory rather than increased consumer demand for PCs. Predicting that most OEMs have now balanced their inventories, IDC says going forward we're more likely to see what the actual demand really is.

At the bottom of the page there is a button that says, "Contact Us" and another that says, "Customer Service."

These are the InterWebs? Where's the bicycles, babes and beer?

This comment isn't really for this post but I don't know where else to turn. I got banned from the forums and I'm not exactly sure why.

Earlier today, I tried to reply to a legitimate question that was asking how to stretch 4:3 games to fit a widescreen monitor. This reply had a link to a site called widescreen gaming forum and I posted it because it has helped me many times in enjoying 4:3 games in widescreen. I got home from work to find that the post was no longer there. I thought that maybe I forgot to hit the submit button so I rewrote the same reply. Now, when I try to get to the forums, it tells me I am banned and to contact the webmaster or board administrator. I cannot do that as it won't even let me log into my account to PM a moderator.

My username on the forums is msnight04 and I really hope that somebody sees this who can help me. I love these forums and have learned a lot from them. I'd hate to lose this resource. I'm sorry for any mistake I may have made.
