Cheery Acer Launches Aspire One Happy Netbook in Four Fruity Colors
Someone over on Acer's marketing team woke up on the right side of the bed and remembered to take their happy-go-lucky pill this morning, which must have been washed down with the most delicious smoothie ever made. That's the only explanation we have for the over-to-top cheery press release that just landed in our laps, the one telling us about the Aspire One Happy netbook that comes in four fruity colors (Blueberry Shake, Papaya Milk, Strawberry Yogurt, and Banana Cream).
"Summer is upon us, with its warmth, energy, and a myriad of bright colors filling our eyes," Acer joyfully explains. "To match this explosion of life and joy, the Acer Aspire One Happy has donned new clothes and comes in fresh, fruity, tasty colors that bring the flavor of summer into your life... Whether you have a romantic soul or want to make an impression, the sweet colors will match your spirit."
Did we just get hugged? In any event, Acer's Happy netbook comes grinning with an Intel Atom N570 processor, 1GB of DDR3 memory, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 10.1-inch display, 250GB/320GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, 93 percent full-size Acer FineTip keyboard, multi-card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, and up to 8 hours of battery life.
The Aspire One Happy will ship in late July in the U.K. for £229 (around US$375). No word on when it make the trip to the U.S.

I hope they come with interchangeable colorer lid covers because if they don't they are going to have at least one or even two colors that don't sell as good and then they'll be screwed. That's why manufacturers stick with basic colors like silver, blue, red, black, and white because those colors are pretty much acceptable to everyone. Not everyone likes yellow for example. Look at the past and learn from it.

I'm glad to see dual core atoms finally hitting netbooks. I have bought a couple Atom N525 processors for desktops i have built (Dual core 1.8Ghz procs) I sold one running windows xp that is absolutely quiet and one running windows 7. Yes they aren't the most powerful processors but for what they are built to do they are great.
