ViewSonic unveils its line of touch displays for Windows 8.By design, Windows 8 has an interface that's best suited for touch, and even though enthusiasts are hesitant to jump on the bandwagon, hardware manufacturers are ready to punch your ticket. ViewSonic is taking advantage of this new era in computing by launching a new line of Windows 8-certified touch monitors, and we stopped by the company's booth at CES to take a look.
The first monitor ViewSonic showed us was the TD2740, a 27-inch panel with a 1920x1080 resolution. It has 10-point multi-touch support, a 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and lots of connectivity options (DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, and full USB HID compliance).
In what's fast becoming a theme, the TD2740 can lay flat. The marketing pitch we're seeing for such flexibility is towards families getting together to play board games, but on a touch panel. It may be a little idealistic, but it's interesting nonetheless.
Would-be movie star and Online Editor Jimmy Thang also spent some time viewing ViewSonic's 4K Ultra HD monitor and Smart Display. The former isn't about to launch any time soon, and the latter is notable because it packs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Why does Jimmy always look so grim? That vendor looks like he's ready to roll over and piddle all over himself.

He's trying to contain the rage at monitor/tv makers who have kept the average display's resolution under that of the iPad Retina (and aren't very enthused about the prospect of bringing higher resolutions to the masses) as they dangle a glorious 4K carrot in front of him.
Or maybe that's just me ;)
