Is that a 1TB flash drive in your pocket or...oh, it IS a 1TB flash drive!
Psst, hey you. Yes, YOU! Take a look at that thumbnail picture over there. Do you see it? Groovy, but do you know what you're looking at? Well, yes, it's a flash drive, but not just any flash drive. That just happens to be the world's largest USB flash drive. It's the Kingston HyperX Predator, and it holds a whopping 1TB of data, which is more than most Ultrabooks. Pretty crazy, right? Come closer and we'll tell you more.
We stopped by Kingston's booth at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and saw a HyperX Predator in person. Kingston told us it will be out in a couple of months.
In addition to holding lots of data, the HyperX Predator is a USB 3.0 drive that shovels data to and fro at around 160MB/s. In other words, it's fast and capacious. Yeah, we can dig it, we just don't know if we can afford it until Kingston sees fit to reveal the drive's MSRP.
Tireless reporter and Online Editor Jimmy Thang spoke with Kingston about a number of other products, including a new line of RAM with redesigned heatspreaders, a DataTraveler USB flash drive, and a new SSDNow V300 Series of solid stated drives (SSDs), which were actually introduced in November 2012.
Take a closer look below, and be sure to check back often for more CES coverage and videos throughout the week. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel at MaximumPCMag.
That's pretty absurd. I don't care how much storage space a cell phone has it will never replace a PC. Browsing websites on a 4" screen is enough of a chore, let alone doing anything productive. Playing games on a cell phone is a joke unless you're playing solitaire or some other "lite" game like Angry Birds.
I was rummaging through my parts drawer a few days ago and came across a 512 MB flash drive that I bought about 9 years ago. I remember at the time thinking it was enormous and would handle all I would ever need to transport from home to office.
Now I find a 32 Gig flash drive to be restrictive.
