Why choose between Windows 8 and Android when you can have both?Windows 8 represents a radical redesign of Windows as we've come to know it, and the touch-friendly user interface (UI) encourages PC makers to think outside the box in terms of hardware design. Well, they've been doing that, some proving better at it than others. Interestingly, Asus (pronounced "ey soos") is gambling that consumers will appreciate an all-in-one hybrid that dual boots Windows 8 and Android, and what better place to roll the dice on a new design than in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show? Let's have a look.
The Asus Transformer AiO has an 18.4-inch IPS display with 10-point multi-touch support, but the real unique feature is that it's removable. Doing so transforms the device from an AIO desktop into a gigantic tablet, and with the press of a button, you can instantly switch over to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. When you do that, the display fires up the Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. As an AIO, it rocks an Intel Core processor (Ivy Bridge).
Asus also showed us its VivoTab Smart tablet. It's a 10-inch slate running a full version of Windows 8 and powered by an Intel Atom processor. There's a sleeve that attaches and functions as a dock, and an optional Bluetooth keyboard that magnetically attaches to the sleeve. The display is an IPS panel. Look for this one to ship in a month or so.

That Asus (pronounced "ey-sus") hybrid looks sweet. First time I've ever heard of Win/Android dual boot.
