Umm, do I count if I don't even use Facebook at all?

Don't have a facebook because I'm not all that sure what the hell I'm supposed to be doing on there. Never had it, never will. I'd rather read MPC, TomsHardware or guru3d articles instead of reading useless drivel about what kind of day you had.

I usually just check Facebook a few times a day because I have nothing else to do.  It's not that I really even like facebook, I just got so bored I just go on it and see what kind of sarcastic comments I can post on other peoples statuses.  I've got multiple days without getting on and it doesn't kill me.  If I had a smartphone, I can tell you that I wouldn't have the Facebook app on it.

What's up with the people getting mad about not being able to look at an ex's new partners pictures?  The last thing I want to do is know what my ex is up to in her personal life (in terms of that).  Which is why I don't have my ex on my Facebook or Skype anymore.  It hurts to think about her with another man, so I just don't even allow myself the option of having to look at it.

haven't checked it in a long time.  I really have no interest what people are up to...all the time!  Next time I go to the site will be to delete the account.  Only reason I haven't yet is there is no real personal info on my account except for my first name. (LOL - publish to Facebook)

i havent been on in 3 years because of the harrassment my old school mates inflicted on me because of knowing free smilies are not a good thing. the next time i go on im deleting it

It's not such a bad thing that its revolutionized the way friends/family keep "in touch" particuarlly when everyones lives are pretty busy, and live away from each other. It's no different than email except for it being a form of broacast. It allows people to more easily share their life experiences with their friends & fam without having to make a thousand phone calls. It's just sad that it's harvested for data for advertising purposes. But then again, what isn't these days?

I check once a day after work. I don't have a smartphone so I'm not on it 24/7 like 90% of the population is.

FB games on the other hand are a horrible waste of time.

Kinda hit and miss for me.  Sometimes I'll check it 2-3 times a day and then I'll go several days without bothering.  Just came back from a 10 day vacation and didn't check once during that time and didn't miss it a bit. Mainly I check to see what my clan is doing as I'm separated from where they all are.

Have a co-worker though who has - get this - 12 different FB accounts so she can manage her various Farmville accounts.  I'd guesstimate that she's on FB at least 3 hours a day.  At work.  No idea how much time she spends on it at home.  This is a mature lady too - in her 40's.

3 years without Facebook without the need to go back. Plus the last family reunion that I attended, I was the one everyone wanted to talk to because I didn't view their day to day activities. It was an overload but it made the day go by quicker.

I guess I am in the minority in this statistic. I use it probably once every 3 months or so. There nothing ever important for me to do there. I am a PC Gamer at heart, and would rather play games on my PC, instead of logging onto FaceBook. Not that Facebook is bad, I just have a little more respect for my privacy, is all really.

one of your few comments i agree with.

Don't use facebook, so I guess you can say that I can go a day without checking it. Reminds me of a skit I once saw, kid is at a computer and says look I have 600 friends as he sits by himself, then another kid is shown actually playing with his friends. Who is the kid with the better life?

Meh, I just "like" companies and get a decent news stream on there. Then I check Kotaku, Tom's Hardware, and of course, MaximumPC for news.

What is dis Facebook? A place to stalk your friends and your friends stalk you? A place where everyone maintains a persona, and makes kissy faces? A place where everyone tries to look cool, and totally not lonely? A site to check up on constantly since you have nothing better to do, like reading a good book?

Funny thing is that I use Facebook as an OpenID. I do not check it very often. So the answer is Yes.

avatar

Mortal_M

I check it once a week.

Based on the comments here on maxPC, people with intelligence don't have facebook. Makes sense.

Making assumptions based on a few comments usually makes one look silly.

avatar

Danthrax66

It's not an assumption it's an observation.

CaptainFabulous

Meh, I could. I usually pop on once or twice a day if I'm bored, but there's certainly no compulsion behind it.

Somehow I've managed to go this long without ever checking Facebook.  I think I'll be able to make it one more day.  Maybe even two.

On top of that, I can also go a week without watching the following: Jersey Shore, Dancing With the Stars, and American Idol.

/incredible willpower, that's how.

avatar

Marthian

Pfft, I've gone my whole life not watching Jersey Shore, Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol. Pretty much anything on TV, I have no cable.

On the other hand, I haven't really tried to see if I can go a day without facebook. If I have a good game to keep me occupied for the whole day, I can.

avatar

bautrey

Yea I don't have any cable too  *high five*
