Who exactly said you couldn't use your computer when you're sick? Would they also fire her for using her couch, kitchen, or TV while she was out sick? If you're out sick, you're on your time, not company time, and what you do that day shouldn't be used against you. However, since she was most likely an "at will" employee, they could have not even given a reason and just let her go anyways. There's a pretty good chance they wanted to fire her anyways, and just jumped on this easy chance.

Anything you do online is in the public domain unless you properly protect/hide it.

Its the same reasoning that's behind not throwing your porn  out in your own trash.  Choose a neighbor. :)

Companies who give out sick days but then use them to entrap employees is BS.  Companies like that can't be trusted to begin with.  Talk about petty.

Great point! But today's "New World Order" government style of management LOVES Tattle-Tales. They will always be protected now. Here's an example: Two people at work go into their business's bathroom to huff some coke. Later on, one 'feels' that they may have been caught. So that person runs to their supervisor and squeals about the whole thing. The person who didn't come forward gets immediately fired while the one who squealed gets praised for, how would Obama put it, bold and swift transparency. ;-)

After a long list of reasons as to which i don't think belong on a public forum, I was better off without a facebook. Sure, it povides me a place to find all my photos, or ones of me I don't have and may want. I have never posted a status, barely touched up my profile, my fiancee did that for me anyhow because she thinks everyone needs a Facebook. (which is complete bull btw, i was better off without it) social networking goes as far as i am right now...forums, and MPC. I don't think i've logged into facebook mre than 3 times in te past month. One to send a mass message out for addresses so i can mail my wedding invites, and twice afterwards to check for the replies. Otherwise it's useless trash like Twitter and Text Messaging.

I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.

Easy answer to this problem: Stay away from social networking B.S. programs. I'm with Gordon on this topic! They're just a willful invasion of privacy in my opinion... Sorry, but I have no desire for my friends, family members, or employment acquaintances to know when I'm on a computer or where I'm at, at all times. What's the benefit??

“My trust for this employer is gone,”

Stfu... "My trust for this employer is gone,”... Just reading that line makes me think you're a stupid little child that deserved it in the end.

Speaking of things stupid little children say...

Actually, I agree with I Jedi.  Well, insomuch as only an idiot actually trusts ANY employer unless they are their own boss.  Employers are not your friends.  They are there for themselves, and themselves only.  And this is how it should be.  You should be the same.
