Secure your phone with a simple passcode and/or encrypt it. They may be able to force you to turn over your phone, but they cannot force you to enter your code and/or decrypt it. 5th Amendment my friends.

Oh, and Republicans have been tearing apart civil liberties for ages... I have NFC where some people got their ideas from, but just because they support private property (until they need it and takes it under eminent domain), and small business' (until they interfere with their cash cows), but the one thing the do not want is you to have any legitimate control over what you can do... only the appearance that you do.

Brown is a Democrat.  Don't fall for the party Vs party crap, both parties like the same thing, power.

The answer to 1984 is 1776.

Ron Paul 2012!

HUH? Well it's Nimrod in action. Most of his post are funny. :)

I'm getting tired of our civil rights being infringed upon all for the interest of "national security". It's been how many years and they still have the Patriot Act in effect.

avatar

win7fanboi

you and me both... i still can't believe we have to go through scanners that get detailed enough view of our body that they can see pubic hairs. Come on people, we have secured the planes cockpit, updated our security procedures even a gun shot can't make it through to the cockpits now. We don't need the scanners, taking out the shoes, and uppity behavior from the TSA a-holes. The scanner contract went to a company that paid off lawmakers. When will this stop. Democrats are supposed to be against the erosion of civil rights but they don't act like it. More and more I am thinking they are all the same.

avatar

Keith E. Whisman

I'vee been against the patriot act since its inception. Conservatives are supposed to hold civil liberties as sacred and that is what confused the hell out of me. I expected the libs to want to turn the US into a police state at their first opprotunity but the republicans coming up with the patriot act? I've been called npatriotic for being against the patriot act. The patriot act goes against everything conservative republicans believe. Surrendering civil liberties in the name of security provides no securit at all.

I just noticed the red star in the California state flag. Coincidenve?

avatar

thetechchild

What? Aren't liberals against a strong govt? And what is this BS about a red star in the state flag? First, (and I'm assuming you're conjuring a poorly supported link to socialism/communism) the state flag was designed long before communism was technically defined and established. Obviously, this means the red star had nothing to do with it at that time. Second, socialism is a perfectly fine system if correctly implemented -- it has nothing to do with a dictatorship or a restriction of freedoms, which you seem to be implying (strictly speaking, socialism is an economic system with an assumed government which somehow enforces that system).

avatar

Carlidan

Dude really you REALLY have to stop watching/or hearing whatever talk show is messing with you noggin. You're just parroting the same shit over and over and expecting some one to take your seriously.

avatar

win7fanboi

I have started to believe that the Demo/Rep have people fooled by making them point the finger to the other party while both of them laughs all the way to the bank. I am not too in to politics (can you blame me, that a sure way of getting depressed these days) but I got the feeling when patriot act got passed that the Reps are hell bent on making this a police state. Where are the WMDs? I was so sick of Bush that I thought anything could be better but I have no hope now, in either parties. They want to channel people's outrage at the other party and their followers instead of having folks realize that they are the puppets made to fight each other so they don't realize their strings are being pulled.

avatar

win7fanboi

douche-bag poli... cali is full of them.

The first three words of this headline were sufficient.

CA Governor Fails

avatar

Have to agree with the your comment. :( You would think he would have learned his lesson.

avatar

stige

you mean when he trashed the state the first time he was governor?

you'd think the voters would have learned THEIR lesson.... oh well.

avatar

1.  Searching someone's property without a warrant after an arrest is a given.  That includes phones.

2.  Don't store your whole life on a phone.

3.  Don't do anything that could have you arrested.

Problem solved.  Damn I'm good.

avatar

jherrlich

There's a difference between "search incedent to arrest" and "I'm going to dig through everything you own".  Just because someone is arrested, doesn't mean an officer can search that persons entire home, does it?

avatar

Carlidan

So we should to give away from warrants all together with your logic. Remember you have nothing to hide. Police should just have the right to search your car, house, computer, personal property just because the "feel" like it. Usually police can enter your home without your home but that's only if a person is in eminent threat.

avatar

win7fanboi

+ 1. The new scanners at the airports do a pretty good job of stripping you naked.

avatar

Mortal_M

Looks like you guys have a lot of stuff to hide in your phone and are affraid of it being in the "wrong hands"

avatar

wolf17

Not anything illegal, it's just not any of their damn business who I talk to or about what.  Sure it's only when you are under arrest now, but it's a slippery slope.  It's this thing called privacy, maybe you've read about it in the history books?

avatar

Keith E. Whisman

This Jerk doesn't seem to have any respect for constitutional rights such as his signing into law new legislation banning the citizens rights to carry guns. That's right, he made it illegal to arm yourself so now it's a crime to defend yourself in the state of California. I hope that the criminals in California have simpathy for their victims because that's all you get in California. Californians are now at the mercy of the criminals. Women in California, you are not allowed to protect yourselves from being raped and murdered anymore. Just call 911 if you can. No phone? Too bad.

So this governor doesn't believe in constitutional rights and personal rights to privacy. I wish Arizona could move another state over, we are just wayyyyyyyyyy to close to California. Here in Arizona I can carry a concealed gun or weapon of any type (class 3 permit required for some) without a concealed carry permit. I am also expected to protect myself and those around me as I go through my day. That is what is expected of every Arizona Citizen. California needs to study Arizona and learn from us.

California is becoming more of a police state then any where else on this planet. It just doesn't have the police on every corner to provide the necessary protection for the citizens that's required after taking away citizens rights to self preservation and protection.

And I care not at all what any of you commy pinko bastard libs have to say in disagreement with me. My beliefs are what this country was built on and you liberal fucks can just go back to China or North Korea.

And for all those idiots protesting Wallstreet and everywhere else. Get over it, nobody owes you a living. This is America, you were provided with every opprotunity to make yourself a successful member of society. It's up to you to pull yourself up and improve your life. Go work as a paper boy. Go pick cotton, go pick water melons, go clean bathrooms. I don't give a fuck about your masters degree. You aint gonna find a high paying job so you better take a job you can get now until you find something better later. People just don't want to lower themselves to doing lesser jobs. Fucking snobs. Go be snobs, just don't expect me to give you a dollar or any of my sympathy as you starve to death. It's not America's fault and it's not any Rich American's fault.

avatar

LatiosXT

"This Jerk doesn't seem to have any respect for constitutional rights such as his signing into law new legislation banning the citizens rights to carry guns."

Lsat I heard, CCW permits were still allowed in California. Sure you have to go through a few hoops to get them, but you can still get them. And if you're talking about owning guns, I have two sitting in my closet right now.

And good for you being able to carry a gun without a permit. But judging by your post, I also feel like you don't deserve to carry a gun period. The best way to win any conflict is to not get in one at all. And it sounds like you need a gun just to get by even though Arizona is a pretty reasonable state. Now if you're entire state was like Compton in LA, you might have a case.

avatar

Carlidan

"This Jerk doesn't seem to have any respect for constitutional rights such as his signing into law new legislation banning the citizens rights to carry guns"

Citizens here in California can still carry guns. Don't know where you got that.  If you want to have a conceal weapon, you just need to get a permit for that. So what's your gripe?

"And I care not at all what any of you commy pinko bastard libs have to say in disagreement with me. My beliefs are what this country was built on and you liberal fucks can just go back to China or North Korea. "

No your beliefs are not what my country was built on. And if you don't what country I'm talking about. It's the United States of America. P.S. Why don't you get your looney facist  conservative ass out of my country. You are the reason why  republicans are getting a bad rap and why moderates are leaving your party.

"And for all those idiots protesting Wallstreet and everywhere else. Get over it, nobody owes you a living"

So ask me who is suppose to supply jobs to make a living? You contradict yourself later with your comments. You know those jobs like pick cotton, wash batrooms, etc... are still jobs supplied by the private or public sector.

" It's not America's fault and it's not any Rich American's fault."

If it's not "America's fault" or "Rich American's" who don't want to hire, then who fault is it. Oh that's right. It's your fault. Take personal responsibility. Gotcha.

avatar

US_Ranger

To the two people above me:

In a lot of cities/counties in California, they make it almost impossible to get a CCW so you can carry your handgun in public. Now, with this law as well, you basically can't arm yourself once you leave your house. Pretty shady.

avatar

Carlidan

And that's a bad thing? CCW should be hard.

avatar

Keith E. Whisman

there should'nt be any laws limiting your 2nd ammendment rights. You should'nt need a ccw to carry a gun and its up to me if i want to carry a gun. The fact the poster above believes that I should'nt carry a gun is the problem with people so willing to give up rights. if the right doesnt matter to you then you dont have a problem with getting rid of it. you could care less about people that actually cherish their rights. its like this, lets say I like a movie that you hate and you hate it so much you do everything you can to make sure that movie is never watched again by anyone by destroying all copies. Now nobody gets to enjoy this movie simply because you dont like it.

just because you dont carry a gun doesn't make me wrong for carrying a gun everywhere I go. As soon as all criminals start providing advanced notice and details about when and where and to whome they are going to victimize next I will stop carrying a gun everywhere I go.

I refuse to put myself and my family at the mercy of criminals.

avatar

Carlidan

So your saying anyone should bare arms with no execptions. That's your position.

FYI you STILL have the right to BARE ARMS. No ONE has taken YOUR RIGHT to OWN A GUN. Just some execeptions. And those exceptions sounds reasonable.

And your analogy doesn't make any sense.

avatar

highsidednb

If they can't get past your lock screen and your sd card is locked/encrypted then what's the point?  It's not like I'm going to say "ok, hey Mr. Officer, here's my password..."  Not only that, are budget-strapped municipal police forces hiring cell phone security experts?  Still, this kind of stuff is disenheartening.  I guess Brown is owned by the police unions after all...

avatar

stige

lol.  you read MPC and think the cops don't have ways to easily bypass your lock screen?

did you know that Bay Area PD has an agreement with Cupertino whereby they can send them any iPhone, along with a warrant, and Apple will unlock it and return the breached phone to the investigators?

there are even handheld cracking devices that cops can carry in to the field, connect to your phone with USB and open it up on the spot.  they are not commercially available but you can find them on the web.

avatar

ocnier

This is also the same clown in favor of financial aid for illegals and in state tuition rates.....   Wow the Dream act really rewards crime, gotta love liberals.  They spend massive amounts of money they don't have (google CA present budget deficit) and reward people who break the law and screw people who don't.  Then when they finally get the chance to support/champion their supposed civil liberty agenda  they are show to be cowards.  Sacramento is nothing but a big orgy for Nancy and her cronies.  Hmm...... I don't recall a bunch of DNS's being shut down or seized by the FBI under Bush's watch, but yet the valley just loves to watch Obama and  Holder just impinge more on the valley's precious internet/cloud. When will the valley get tired funding/sucking these guys off?

avatar

Carlidan

No we liberals understand we can't just deport almost 10 million illegals in a whim. It's funny conservatives used to support the Dream Act.  No on Bushes watch we just had agencies spying on it's own soldiers and citzens. Oh that's no Big Deal we deserve it.

avatar

Nimrod

Excuse me but why exactly cant we? Other countries around the world have a long history of proving its possible. And dont be so fucking stupid, its more like 20 million.

And "you liberals" should did a good job of getting rid of the partiot act when you had all branches of the Gov didnt you? No fuck face, Obama EXPANDED the program on his second day in office.

avatar

Carlidan

Actually Obama did not expand the Patriot Act. He just extended the patriot act. It was suppose to expire.  And you can't seem to be an angy person and likes to insult people. So if you want to play that game here go. Yes Liberals can't just get rid of a law overnight. If it was that easy, fuckface it would have been done.

Oh and for your other comment. What "other country" has done it? You do have evidence  right.  Or are you just blowing smoke up your ass. Oh wait, your right, their was one case. I think think the Germans did it in the 1940's. I wonder how the did it. Genocide?

avatar

ocnier

No Bush support the Dream Act on the premise that path to citizenship would occur i.e. military service etc....  not just handing the farm over to any hombre for a 1000 mile radius.  Good luck with the budget, as I said before their is no GOP in CA to speak of.  ROFLMAO  who you gonna blame now jackass?

avatar

Carlidan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Republican_Party

Here you go. I know you hate facts.

I blame both parties. One party gives in. Other party is my way or the highway.

You seem to be the jackass. But that's another story.

avatar

ocnier

LOL, you need to read your own article and few more.....  News flash idiot here's your link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Republican_Party

along with this one

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Democratic_Party

They both reinforce my statements.  Can you read is the better question jackass?  The Democrats/Liberals have controlled the legislature since 1970 with lone exceptions of 1995 and 1996.  California is also one those states where the elected govenor is not a overly powerful official with respect to its legislative body.  Believe it or not states like TX are the same way (albeit diametrically opposed.... however TX doesn't seem to be in a world of crap financially or employment wise.... I wonder why?)  As for Arnold, he was in IMHO the most liberal govenor you can have as a republican and pretty much was a republican in name only. So how can you hold me responsible for bad law when I haven't been able to make any for almost 20 years and the few executive officials that I could elect were with essentially without power?  If you actually take time and read you will ostensibly see there has been no right side of the isle influence in almost 2 decades.

So Carlidan my questions still stands:  Who you gonna blame now jackass?

avatar

Carlidan

" Good luck with the budget, as I said before their is no GOP in CA to speak of.  ROFLMAO  who you gonna blame now jackass?"

I guess you don't seem to understand your own comment. You never said who had a majority control in the State Legislature. You asked is there any GOP in CA. I guess you can't comprhend what you've typed. Well I shouldn't be really suprised. Since all you can is insult and repeat someone elses says to you. Sounds like a dumb person who gets pwned and restorts to name calling.  Hey idiot, before you save your comment, make sure not make and ass of yourself. I know I'm asking too much though.

Also I like how if a republican doesn't fall in line they are called RINO's.

"So Carlidan my questions still stands:  Who you gonna blame now jackass?

And P.S. it seems you can't  read either jackass. Again not suprised either.

avatar

ocnier

The implied intent is that the GOP is a non factor, of course there is a GOP in CA but for all intensive purposes they are/have been a non factor 2 decades.  Maybe if you had an education beyond the 7th grade you could grasp the concept of another's writing and maybe infer a concept called "intent".

avatar

Carlidan

"Good luck with the budget, as I said before their is no GOP in CA to speak of."

To me your implied intent was that you didn't know you republican state legislators. I was giving you their names. Your implied intent was not that they were non factor in our state to govern.

"Maybe if you had an education beyond the 7th grade you could grasp the concept of another's writing and maybe infer a concept called "intent". "

Instead of clarifying your postion, you had to go to name calling. Well I shouldn't be suprised, people with no lack of intelligence, like you, has to resort to it to feel better.

If you want a flame war. I'm up to it. I'll play.

avatar

Carlidan

That is still part of the Dream Act. You can go to the military to the path of citizenship. You seem not to understand the Dream Act. And for your info, even with the conditions your talking about they still are against it.  And also, other states have similiar Dream Acts. We were not the first .

avatar

ocnier

The example of the military path is one I point out because it was discussed on the right as a term of acceptance along with enhanced immigration enforcement.  I can live with it because at least it is earned. Bush was wrong to support it IMO but he's from a border state and was only govenor at the time of support.  The crazy thing is whether the Dream act is right or wrong doesn't matter right now.  There's NO MONEY!  WE'RE BROKE in CA!  Even if I play devil's advocate for it's not the right time.  As for other states with the  dream act: Texas and Illinois.  The TX version only allows in state tuition and Illinois only allows access to one specific finicial aid scholarship that is privately funded (which at present time is poorly funded from private donations because word is out that it strongley favors illegal latinos in terms of allocation, it seems the legal latinos that actually did every thing right to get here aren't too keen on helping their cheating brethren...... hmmm go figure).  The CA dream act vastly overeaches it bounds.  Either way if things continue on this path then Californians need to learn to speak Greek as well and learn about Greek culture because CA is turning into Greece fast (heaven help us).  Can't wait to see the prison union workers rioting and burning buildings.

Sounds to me like ocnier watches too much Fox News. Get out. Do some research. And Occupy Wallstreet FTWWW!!!

avatar

ocnier

Hmm one year of Tea party protests: zero arrests

One week of the occupy Wall Street: over 1200 arrests

Hmm..... I wonder which group is nothing but trash and thugs?  Maybe instead of FTWWW! you should adopt Failboat!!!!, lol

avatar

Carlidan

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/05/tea-party-activists-hit-c_n_347016.html

Right there contridicates your statement. So I guess they are trash and thugs.

Well in your eyes and Fox News these people are true patriots of the cause.

avatar

ocnier

I stand corrected LOL 9 trash members vs 1200+ in NY alone.... hmmm... I think i can live with nine.

avatar

Carlidan

It's probably more. But I don't have the time to search.

avatar

ocnier

Give it your best shot high speed, LOL

avatar

Carlidan

Is it really worth it? :P

avatar

You tell me?  I stand by my words.....  Can you?

avatar

Nope. I know you stand by your words, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

"I stand by my words.....  Can you?"

Huh? Can you?
