Brutal Legend Finally Finds Publisher, EA Finally Finds Game About Guitar-Fighting

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

Well, looks like EA finally came to its senses. After waving away the issue by, uh, talking about it, the mega-publisher finally popped a wedding ring on Tim Schafer and co.'s baby. Schafer, naturally, is super stoked.

“This is awesome news!” he said. “The quality and creativity of the games EA Partners has been involved with make it a perfect home for our baby, Brütal Legend. Some people were starting to wonder if the saga of Eddie Riggs would ever see the light of day, but now I think it’s clear that this game, like Metal itself, cannot be killed!”

Bit of an odd match, if you ask us -- but then, we're talking Tim Schafer here; only a publisher owned and operated by hundreds of other Tim Schafers would fit his curves.

Really though, we just hope EA doesn't pull a Microsoft before things are all said and done. Our poor hearts are still retching from the last rollercoaster ride.

avatarBummer, I won't buy the game

Bummer, I won't buy the game just because of the EA logo that will be on it.

They have a history of turning everything it touches into crap with their inconvenient DRM

avatarBoooo

Horrible choice in publisher.  EA will just DRM it into uselessness.  This looks fun, too bad it will be unlikely that I can buy it, since I refuse to buy anything EA is associated with.

avatarNot EA again!

Oh please not EA, they've proven that they are just some ignorant publisher that loves to make money. Every game made to date that was made under the authority of EA (Not Published) have been awful, they even slap on a DRM to make even more people hate them!

Also a game about guitar fights is going to be utter crap. Just like all the other 300 guitar games out there.

God damn it. and I was really looking forward to this game too. I might not even get it if the DRM turns out to be horrible.

Oh boy, I can't wait to see what kind of obtrusive DRM is on this EA release.

avatarWhy?

Why do they need a publisher? Can't they just call up Valve, plop the game on Steam and make tons of bank? Or is the publisher needed for consoles and retail PC games since they need discs, and online console games cap out at a few hundred megabytes?
