British Documentary Confuses ArmA 2 Clip For Actual IRA Footage
Libyan dictator Col. Gaddafi doesn’t have the best reputation in the Western media circles, even before the current bloody rebellion surged through the country. He’s known to have funded militant and terrorist organizations around the globe; a recent documentary by ITV, one of the top television stations in the U.K., clearly showed video of Irish IRA militants shooting down a British helicopter with Libyan weaponry in 1988. Except, um, the supposedly “real” footage was actually a clip from ArmA 2. Oops!
Don’t get us wrong, the graphics in ArmA 2 are amazing, but a gamer – or, you know, a professional video editor – should have been able to spot the difference immediately. The users at the Bohemia Interactive forums sure did, and they leapt online this morning to trumpet the true nature of the ITV documentary’s “IRA footage.” If you want to check it out for yourself, an enterprising soul has already posted an excerpt from the documentary online.
PC Gamer, one of our sister sites, have already contacted Bohemia about the footage, and CEO Marek Spanel said he is just as confused about the inclusion of the ArmA 2 footage as the rest of the world, as ITV never asked permission to use a clip from the game in the documentary. The publication also tracked down another YouTube clip, which you can see here, that may explain how the ITV crew became confused about the footage.

Wow, so maybe Bush did actually have evidence of WMD's in Iraq. The evidence was just in CoD.

It looks intentional, like they applied a blur filter on it. What was their agenda I wonder?

Well IDK. I mean they did fake those killing that STARTED the entire conflict thats going on right now. Remember when they said his fighter jets were strafing people, turns out that never happened. The media also doesnt want to talk about the fact that the the Al Qaeda forces were using to over throw Libya are mass murdering blacks. So this is really nothing more than another fraud in a long line of pathetically false propaganda including all the false announcements about us capturing or killing him.
Funny, Gaddafi was the first person to order an international arrest warrant for Bin Ladin, now Bin Ladins forces are over throwing him under our direction. But at the same time were supposed to be at war AGAINST Al Qaeda, not WITH them right? Funny how this all works. The videos and reports of the Al Qaeda commander in Libya talking about how much they enjoyed killing Americans in Iraq sure were not fake.
I have serious doubts about this fake video being an accednt.

Al Qaeda never realy did existed. The Al Qaeda we know is only a fabrication of what the media tells us. The true Al Qaeda, are just recruited Isreli Forces or family members because they don't like how USA is attacking their country. They are not an organized terrorist organization, just small pockets of resistence with ruthless minds.

Joji, you need to do some research. Didn't your parents teach you "think before you speak" ?

Isn't "Al Qaeda" just a bunch of recruited people? That should be true fact if I'm on mistakened. And "attacking" as in, they think the US is attacking their country. Something like that, it's complicated.

This is ridiculous! ARMA II has terrible graphics. Not to mention its unplayably complicated. But how could anyone honestly confuse this for real footage?

Think 10 years from now, this is going to happen more often, where game graphics are so realistic people will confuse them with reality and they will mistakenly get used as evidence for crimes etc.

Maybe this was intentional... that way the government and media will rally to get video games banned because it's too easy to mistake for reality!

I really like how the truck hops in the video from the link you provided. Someone is going to be in serious trouble for this. LOL
