BP Buys Oil Spill Search Terms
You may have noticed that you're seeing more ads for BP in your search results. It turns out that the oil company has moved into full-fledged PR panic and is now buying up various search terms relating to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It has been confirmed that BP has bought ads on Google and Yahoo thus far.
Searching for 'oil spill' will present an ad at the top of the page for BP's "Gulf of Mexico response". According to a BP spokesperson the ad buy is supposed to " assist those who are most impacted and help them find the right forms and the right people quickly and effectively." We would only point out that people will also get BP's party line on events in the Gulf, which in some cases diverge from the scientific consensus.
The search companies have not commented on how many ads BP has purchased or how much they will cost. Have you noticed the ads? Is anyone willing to believe the PR explanation?

Oh common Google, do no evil but don't be complacent about it and take their dirty money.
On a separate not, here they compare to the another spill in 1979:

Yeah, thats right, waste money on AD campains doomed from the start like their "top kill" method of leak control. Mebbe someone should be point out to the bafoons that rather then buying ad words it would be better to spend that money helping with the fing clean up effort!
Yesss! the over zelous spam filter let this through!

Let them Buy all the ads they want, I don't see how that is gonna remove the stink. When you think or hear the initials BP it is always gonna be synonomous with ONLY THE WORST OIL SPILL DISASTER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! No, I think buying up the search terms and replacing it with ads trying to make BP smell sweet in this catastrophic failure is like trying to spray perfume on a huge pile of hot, smelly crap.

I still don't know why they just didn't drop an 100 ton block of reinforced concrete on the damn thing from the start BP your a joke and having a drongo make light of the situation is only going to get peoples backs up.. i really wouldn't be surprised if he was found face down in a puddle of crude but then you couldn't wish it on a worse person than he
Play till it breaks then learn how to fix it!
