Honestly, I am not sure what to think about D3 any more. I used to be an addicted fan of this game for many years but I am afraid I'll be disappointed with this new iteration. I don't care much if PvP is not implemented at first. For me, PvP came later as I enjoyed questing and coop with others. This lasted for quite a while, trying new builds and Mf'ing quite a bit. D2 wasn't never really about PvP anyway but people ended up doing it nevertheless even with all the balancing issues. In fact, I think it was part of the fun. People were trying different technic and gear depending on who were the opponents. Also, most people agreed on a loose set of rules when duelling. I had some good duelling times but this came to an end one fall day when a major "dupping" exploit came down crashing on this game. (I don't remember the date exactly but patch 1.09 was still the flavour of the day.) After that, duelling was not much fun even with super rune words which,AFAIC, completely screwed up the game. (don't get me wrong, rune words is a nice idea but giving the ability to teleport to every body is not my idea of a good rune word. I am digressing.

In the end, I'll be happy if I can enjoy the game just playing casually and don't care much if PvP never come to be. I don't have the time nor the will to play this game at this level anymore. There is no way around it, to become a good PvPer, you need playing time to hone your skills and gather gear. It's a luxury I don't have anymore.

would love to also point out that in 2011 they removed the talent tree system out of d3 in favor of "heres your skills use them, what you want more choices, SOL"

now this which inevitably ruined their own brand new market system and intial release sales.

here ill explain - d2 was never about killing diablo 999,999 times just to level up and get the best items, what were those items and levels exactly used for? to put more points in said skill trees and dominate other players with "GODLY" gear.

so once again - without pvp, you have no trade market and lose tons of initial release sales (sick and tired of seeing a great game become worse, this isnt WoW its the freaking diablo genre, go break your other games, seeing things like this are infuriating and demeaning to real gamers)

oh and I forgot to mention remember the players they conned into buying a 1 year subscription to wow and get a free d3 copy

heres your incomplete _____ (insert your own describing word) game.<-lol, personally id choose "heaping pile of failure"

Remember when we thought that Diablo III was going to launch in 2002, 2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,& 2011? Those were the days. We hoped/thought a launch was going to happen long before the 2008 announcement. I for one figured originally 2002 or 2003 since they started developing it in 2001.

LMFAO, 10 Years in the making and you just come to realize that the PvP game and systems aren’t yet living up to your standards. Release the game already and quickly add your self to the unfortunate 600 laid off ex Blizzard employees.

I am pretty excited about D3, changes to WoW, DRM, all that other stuff hardly matters to me.

It is not an unprecedented move by Blizard to release a game before certain features were complete (new WoW dances?), so I am not too worried, I am just glad that I will be able to play campaign and co-op (which is basically what I am most looking forward to anyway).

The only thing that I am worried about is whether my ageing GPU will be able to handle the game at all, being a poor student kind of limits my options :S

They can cut PVP completely out of the game as far as I'm concerned.

Never really planned on doing PvP in DIII anyway, so I'm not affected by this at all.

I think the best advice I have gotten about D3 is from my son. He absolutely loved D2 and still occasionally plays it. When I got a beta invitation a month ago, I gave my account to him for a while. He has said that he has not played hardly ANY D3 which was a shocker. If Blizzard has broken D3 enough that a rabid D2 fan does not care for it, who's left? Of course, going from 14 to 23 years old during the transition might have something to do with it G>

While I cant say I am going to boycott the game. I most likely wont buy the game on launch day. While I really liked D1 and D2, Blizzard took out some the best features of D3, that i really wanted. I mostly likely I will just wait for the price to drop to about $40 or less in a year or so, and then decide to if I really want the game or not.

avatar

fry

Hmm. SCII is still selling for $50-$60 at retail. Unless you honestly think Blizz is going to have a hard time moving copies of D3, you're going to have a long wait for bargain-bin pricing.

avatar

Supall

Yeah. The Starcraft I Battle Chest is still $20 and its been like that for a decade. Just buy the game out the door since you most likely won't see a price drop until an expansion is released and that might take a year or two.

Archangel1976

Not quite as fired up as our boycott person above, but honestly....

... when was the last time Blizzard did PvP well? It sure as heck isn't World of Warcraft's broken @$$ PvP. Starcraft is not quite the same, as it's RTS, and really, that's built on their 10 year old + formula that would be really hard to screw up.

Looking at Blizzard and the composite of the things they have done over the past few months, I'm really not thrilled with the direction of things and am no longer looking forward to D3. Let's see...

-Cataclysm was a half-@ssed attempt to "fix" WoW
-D3 pushed back
-WoW patch 4.3 was lackluster at best
-Blizzcon 2012 nuked
-D3 pushed back again
-MoP, sounds like Blizzard is going to repeat Cata mistakes
-Blizzard send 600 people packing
-And now this.....

Sorry. I hate to join the tinfoil hat crowd, but since Activision got involved with Blizzard, it seems like they have gone downhill. This info release?.... it may SEEM like it's about quality but think of this.... Didn't Blizzard say they weren't going to release D3 until it was ready? Now Blizzard is going to release despite it not being ready. Under the claim that, "Oh, it's a shame to hold it up because one part isn't perfect." OR.... maybe it's because, "We're leaking money like a seive due to bad decisions and we're not willing to accept that making a profit is good enough. We have to make AS MUCH PROFIT as before or MORE."

I'm cancelling my sub. My "free D3".... whatever. Blizzard, you've lost me and now you guys just keep digging a deeper hole.

I agree with everything you said except for Starcraft bit. I was a hardcore SCBW player and Shitcraft II was the start of all the disappointments. I predicted that DIII and all things acti-blizz would go downhill from the SCII situation.

avatar

georgey

I wonder what changed? They've never had a problem pushing back the release date before even when other things were complete. I think most people would agree that PVP is a core feature.

avatar

mattman059

Actually I think PvP is pretty worthless.

avatar

Scatter

Agreed.

avatar

JohnP

Agree. PvP in Diablo? Co-op yes, but PvP? Oh wait, I just read about D3 PvP in MPC. Wildly exciting and addictive... I will probably have a heart attack playing it then.

I could care less about it at this point.

avatar

I never did any PvP in D2, and don't much care about it now. This news doesn't affect my buying decision at all. Just nice to know they've finally managed to bring themselves to maybe, possibly announce a release date one of these days.

MrPC2010

what I think of it? I will boycott d3 release and I invite everyone to join me! Enough is enough! I was already not very happy they removed "open world pvp" but now they remove it completely from the game until no idea when? BOYCOTT DIABLO III RELEASE!

I loved diablo 1 and 2 but this game they call diablo 3 have little to do with it's predecessors, it went the sad road of getting rid of all the cool features from previous games and make everything easier for the new generation of gamers that don't know how to play games.

Diablo 3
No potions
No pvp
No open world pvp
$$$$ Real money Auction house $$$$$$
Warcraft artstyle and classes

BOYCOTT D3 RELEASE UNTIL WE GET PVP!
