Bing Doing Well in its Second Week
Posted 06/18/09 at 05:37:51 PM by Andy Salisbury

According to market researcher ComScore, Bing has had a successful second week in the world of search engines.
Bing is up roughly 3 percent from where Microsoft was before they rebranded and reworked Live Search, in terms of total searches and total query share.
“It appears that Microsoft Bing has continued to generate interest from the market for the second consecutive week,” stated ComScore’s Senior VP, Mike Hurt. “[This] early data reflect[s] a continued positive market reaction to Bing in the initial stages of its launch.”
Still though, it’s very early in the game. As great as this improvement is, Microsoft still has a lot of catching up to do if they plan to seriously compete with Google – and they seem to recognize that.

So far I am unimpressed by bings search accuracy. I don't champion any one search engine and usually bounce back between google and yahoo depending on what type of search I am doing. With either of those two search engines, if you are looking for a specific company or webpage you are almost gauranteed it is going to fall within the top 5 pages listed. But so far results from bing have been very hit or miss. I've looked for a few companies that didn't even have their official site make the first page of listings. And the predictive auto completion (for lack of better terms) in the search box doesn't work very well. For example, on the day the new palm pre launched, typing "pal" in the yahoo or google search box would give you "palm pre" as the number one search on the list. It didn't even make the list on bing.
Maybe it just needs some tweeks. For now I will continue to try it out, but for it to become my search engine of choice it has a long way to go.

I am loving bing! I actually liked how Ask let you customize your picture for your homepage, over the simple google layout, but I love how bing rotates a new picture in everyday for you! much more exotic than what I could muster on Ask every couple of days. I was hesitant to actually use bing and click on the links before SiteAdvisor was working on it, but not that McAfee has SA working on bing, I find it every bit as good as ask, but layout and ui are improved.
