Comscore has released its March U.S. search engine market share numbers, and the results might surprise you. While the vast majority of the Internet still turns to Google for search (65.1%), Bing has posted an aggressive share gain hitting a record 11.7%. What's even more interesting is that it turns out most of the hit came from ex-googler's as Yahoo's fortunes also nudged up ever so slightly to 16.9%.
Microsoft's growth in the search engine market has been slow and steady since the Bing rebranding, but its refreshing to see their might actually be some competition left in the search market. Its hard to imagine that this trend could continue indefinitely, but as we all know healthy competition is great news no matter which way you look at it. For those keeping score this is also the tenth straight month of share gains for Bing.
Anyone out there still using it?

What really jerks me off is that when you do the Preview Comment it all looks OK, then when you go to Post it, it give you the crap about the spam. I wrote two posts recently. In the first post, I used the full names (2) of the two programs I was commenting on a number of times. They were very similar. The spam filter got me. In the second post, I did not use the full name, but a partial name and identifier. That post went through. It would be better to show the problem in the Preview Comment window, and allow you to change it.

I use Bing vs. Google ( http://www.bing-vs-google.com ) and get the best of both worlds.
Using it, I've found that Google usually produces better results (In my oppinion) but Bing is getting better.

I use bing for the sake of competition. There's really no other reason. It works when I need a search engine, and I'm all for evening out the market shares.

I switched back to Google after the company pulled out from China. I felt I just had to support a move like that.

Agreed whoever thought the spam filter was a good idea should be shot and hanged. It is inconsistent sometimes I can type a word other times I can't seriously wtf?

I like Bing's layout, but I still refer to Google when I need to get accurate results.

I decided to give Bing a try when it came out and haven't looked back since. It's my default search engine now.

The fact is, in a market of free items, Bing is still inferior to Google. Why would I buy Great Value toothpaste when Crest is the same price? Inferior products only work if there is pricing to account for.
But we all know the real loser in all of this: AltaVista.

I have found myself using Bing more and more. I find that especially for tec searches I get a more focused result from Bing. I have also noted that it is getting even better.
Competition is good.

I hate bing, but I'll admit that it's almost as good as google. That's not really a compelling reason to switch though, is it?
