BFG Bows Out of Graphics Card Business, Continues with PSUs, Laptops/PCs
It's never easy saying goodbye, and though we never play favorites, we can't help but be a little saddened by BFG's departure from the graphics card market. That's right folks, the company that pretty much kick started the concept of lifetime warranties for videocards will no longer be slapping together GPUs and PCBs.
"After eight years of providing innovative, high-quality graphics cards to the market, we regret to say that this category is no longer profitable for us, although we will continue to evaluate it going forward", said John Slevin, chairman of BFG Technologies. "We will continue to provide our award-winning power supplies and gaming systems, and are working on a few new products as well."
Instead of graphics cards, BFG will focus its attention entirely on its own-branded power supplies as well as their Deimos gaming notebooks and Phobos gaming systems. And for those of you who already own a BFG videocard, don't fret, the company was adamant that it would "continue to offer RMA, telephone, and email support for qualified BFG Tech graphics card warranty holders."
It's been an interesting past couple of years in the graphics market, to say the least. XFX was first to shake up the industry when it announced it would end its exclusivity partnership with Nvidia and also sell ATI brand videocards, and more recently, XFX said it would be skipping Fermi altogether. With BFG bowing out of the market entirely, that leaves only EVGA as the sole provider of lifetime warrantied cards in the Nvidia camp.
Most would probably agree that BFG was considered one of the 'good guys' in the graphics card market. In late 2008, BFG stepped up to the plate by offering rebate relief to customers who got burned by CPG, a rebate processing company accused of mismanaging funds. Around the same time, BFG implemented an upgrade program in which some AGP videocard owners could upgrade to PCI-E cards free of charge.

This is a requirement in business to have a full featured system in order to go through the work process properly. Either conditions some high power graphics cards are not required but keeping then can so reduce the time to wait in high processes.

So much for BFG continuing to offer RMA's! Here's the reply I got today:
BFG Technologies, Inc. is winding down and liquidating its business.
Unfortunately our major supplier would not support our business. As a result we are unable to setup or process any new RMAs for BFG products.
I expected better, but then it's not like they care that I'll never buy another BFG product right?

This is just sad news to me, a long time BFG video card user, have a few here, including the pair in my main system. Great products, shame to see this happen.

K0BALT, be sure to read all the fine print. PNY's so-called 'lifetime warranty' is only for the life of the product, not the buyer:
"Lifetime replacement warranty does not cover items out of production if the company no longer stocks them. (Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the product on the market. Outdated technology is not covered by lifetime warranty if the item is no longer available on the common market as a new product.)"
Bolded for emphasis. EVGA, XFX, and BFG all over true lifetime guarantees (XFX even lets you transfer the warranty to a second buyer) so long as you register your card within 30 days of purchase. Unlike PNY, if your card dies a few years down the line, it's still covered, and you may even end up with an upgraded product.

Paul, Kobalt is correct!
In 2009, PNY announced a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the high-end XLR8 GeForce GTX Series Graphics Cards.
PNY Technologies, Inc. ("PNY") expressly warrants this Graphics Card (product) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of One year (*will be extended for the lifetime of the original purchaser upon completion of a registration form on PNY's website ) from the date of sales receipt as sold to the original purchaser ("purchaser"), subject to all the terms and conditions...”
Better than EVGA, PNY gives the purchaser 3 months to register. So even if your card dies, it’s still covered, and you may even end up with an upgraded product :)

I have bought about a dozen BGG cards and I have really liked their service and in one case their RMA process. I am so sorry to see them go. I suspected it however when they were not making a big deal about Fermi.

Well this really sucks. I have always loved BFG and have not had any problems with it. I thought that something was up as there were less and less BFG available on the internet as well as at my local stores. Evga has pissed me off too many times to want to buy their cards. As they are the only one to offer the lifetime warranty, guess I am out of luck.

So long BFG video cards. I bought a BFG Geforce 6600GT (overclocked of course) back in the day and it served me well owning noobs in BF2 and America's Army. My fan died after a couple years and they sent me a replacement card no questions asked.
BFG cards have always been a little pricey due to the fact they are all O.C.'d I would guess but they were good cards.

This is indeed a bummer as it's always sad to see a video card pioneer like BFG call it quits (for video cards anyway). I'm not that suprised though as BFG has not been that visible for some time selling video cards. Newegg for example hasn't stocked many of them for quite awhile compared to other manufacturers. I think they were slowly not able to keep up and compete. I've had dealings with them concerning RMA replacements for video cards going bad and the experience was always pleasureable. Hopefully, maybe later they might get back into the video card market again.
