Still have a wireless WRT54 with DD-WRT in service today. Works great as a bridge to increase my range.

The memories...

I can't get sentimental about a router. If it does it's job it's virtually invisible.

Anybody know of a good paint remover to remove all the Linksys badging on my router? I wanna put like a phat Jake skull or something on it. Anywho, I'm about 3 or 4 months away from a year from when I bought it and haven't had any major issues connection-wise.

Dang. I wouldn't touch either brands now.

Great. Now the Linksys brand can be just as as crappy as Belkins and lose your connection at least once per day.

Its not as if Linksys had a decent router of their own in the past 5+ years.

no shit I used to have a belkin and it was dreadful. constantly lost connections. I was thinking the same thing. I hope they still use linksys' hardware for now and not their own. Belkin routers are the worst. I guess the next one I buy will be netgear or Dlink.

Dlink is scrap also, I've never had a good dlink wireless device. Dlink isnt all that much better unfortunately... We will never get the Linksys devices we once did long ago unfortunately. We have a serious problem now :_( there are only tolerable brands for consumer level networking and nothing very spectacular.

I've never had a Dlink so I will take your word for it. Right now i have a linksys E1200 which suits my needs. I live alone in a single story 3 bed 2 bath house so the router isn't that far away when I unplug and go wireless to the bedroom. Streaming movies from my server is never a problem so the E1200 seems okay to me. Man this article put a frown on my face and gave me flashbacks of the horrid fuckery that was owning a Belkin router. I think I'll crack open another beer to drown away the sorrows of once owning a piece of garbage like the Belkin router I had.

I've had to replace my dlink router because it couldn't even stream netflix on low quality properly on my ps3. It was their top product at the time and I think even now (dir-655) which I bought because of the gigabit lan it supports. I bought it with a wireless adapter from dlink which was their top product for N rated wireless but it never transfers faster than 2MB/sec which is slower than my internet. (dwa-552)
edit: btw my friend who has the exact same router has the same problem.

You forgot "...and oftentimes, the whole day."

I wouldn't touch Cisco anything because I have no use for the company.
