Battlefield Bad Company 2 Sells Over 2.3 Million Units as DICE Declares End to Multiplayer Server Issues

Battlefield Bad Company 2 may have suffered from one of the rockiest starts in recent memory, but that didn’t stop gamers from flocking to DICE’s latest frag-fest in droves. In fact, the overwhelming weight of millions of players is what crushed Bad Company 2’s servers to begin with.
"In the first 48 hours we had such a tremendous rush to multiplayer gameplay that our servers experienced overwhelming demand," said executive producer Karl Magnus Troedsson. "This is a testament to the massive response players have had worldwide for the extraordinary action experienced in the Battlefield sandbox."
Better still, if you’ve been waiting on the sidelines to dive in, the coast is now officially clear.
“DICE and EA have brought more servers online," he explained. "We now have enough capacity to handle all BFBC2 connections seamlessly and we continue to monitor online play daily."
Since its release on March 2, Bad Company 2 has moved more than 2.3 million units. And while that’s not quite the “biggest launch in entertainment history,” we think it’s still reason enough for Modern Warfare 2 to start sweating a bit.

I have a Core i7 860 and 275 GFX - BC2 seems to work fine for me. No crashes though I did have some trouble trying to get onto a server once in a while - but nothing from turning me off from the game.
Loads of fun - if you haven't got it, get it.

EA hasn't fixed anything!! Server filters still don't work (search for servers running PB, then check their info...and they're not. And even yesterday (the 21st) the EA servers went down again. And is it just me or has it been extremely laggy lately?

Servers are still crashing, still no way to look for PB only servers like you said. Also there is NO autobalance. how do you release a team based game without auto balance. seriously I dont know whos job it was but they were sleeping on this.
Deffinetly sick of losing stats to crashing. Just left a game 23-2 with 2 gold stars. thats 10k xp lost because EA has to ruin every game they put their name on.
Dont get me wrong i still play it and still have fun just frustrating to deal with prerelease issues when its full version.

I am on a 5850 with 10.2 drivers and it STILL crashes to desktop. Up until a few days ago, I couldn't even connect on some servers. I am also using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Tonight I updated to the beta 10.3 and so far so good. This has to be one of the worst launches in EA history for multiplayer. It was so bad at one point, I'd wished I never bought the game, and I have owned every Battlefield game since the first 1942. It is improving but multiplayer is still not fixed despite the "official" press.

10.3 Catalyst drivers should be out within the next week and a half. I too have been experiencing this crash. Sometimes I wondered if I was kicked out of the server but it seems to be the driver's fault.

Yep I get that too. Game freezes up or PC crashes. At least oncce in a gaming session.
The game rocks though - but shame it crashes :(

Can modding be done on BFBC2? I mean, like enough to get a few popular mods like Project Reality or Sandbox. If theres no modding, at least map edititng? Strangely, half of my descision to purchase is based on the games modability. The only reason I play BF2 still is because of the mods.

I also cannot wait until BF3. I was going to buy BC2 but my videocard is primitive (GeForce GT8600).
When I ran the beta, graphics were great but gameplay was tough (30 - 40 FPS on medium graphics). It doesn't make sense to play on the lowest settings.
Once BF3 comes out, I will upgrade my videocard to an ATI 5770.

Great game! I highly recommend this to anyone that have friends. Having friends in a squad guarantees you "best squad" almost 95% of the time. :) Was a bit hesitate, but no regrets at all when buying the game within steam for pre-purchase :) It totally adds up experience with enviromental destruction!

When the beta came out I was nervous because it ran horrible on my system.
But the game was released and ran significantly better. I can actually play at 1680X1050 with around 60fps on all medium settings.
Its really fun.
My favorite part is the end of a match where the whole town you are battling in is reduced to rubble. Just a few minutes earlier there were buildings and what not.

ALSO I cannot wait for Battlefield 3 on the PC. Imagine Battlefield 2
ontop of Frostbyte 2. I will be really dissapointed if they leave out jets in BF3. Sure they were cheap sometimes, but imagine looking up
and your fighting on the ground and there is this seperate fight in the
air going on. Planes dropping bombs buildings exploding. It would be
great.

How did the jets ruin everything in BF2? I mean yea sometimes guys would be really good like go 40-2 in the J-10, but that was still kind of fun. I bought a flight stick just to fly around in the jets. I just hope they make it a little more balanced. The F-35 blew.

Why is my ping/latency not displayed in the game or in the server browser?
In the server browser there's a colum for ping to be dislayed but it is blank for every server. Why is the friends system broken. I have tried to add people by searching, and in game and neither work.

It is displayed in-game, I think it's the middle number out of the three columns, I know, it looks retarded with text on top of text, but DICE has a fix in one of their updates I think.

But BC2 game is a WOW

For how long can you play the game online before hackers take over?, just like Call of duty, I spend $56 only to find the game unplayable with so many hackers using GPS, auto-aim and whatnot, its very aggravating.

I haven't seen hackers yet, hopefully PunkBuster works as annoying that it is. I just like the amount of realism involved.
For example, when sniping, you actually have to aim higher in the distance because gravity brings the bullet down. That is sick.

Bullet drop is also in Battlefield 2. You wont notice it on Karkand but try wake island from one tip to the other. I actually find sniping on BC2 alot easier then on BF2 due to the spotting arrows. all you have to do is see the person and spot them. The red arrow makes it really easy to judge height/lead time through trees and fencing.

I think the map that puts BFBC2 closest to Crysis is definitely the jungle level.

Our whole clan (RAW tactical- 125 members) will be using this game.(BBC2)
It's a shame MW2 did not have dedicated servers...why we never bought it...

I too am part of the 2.3 million. I got 2 shiny new 5770's for this game. Those cards just LOVE pumping out my 1080p visuals, everything set to max. I've never once had the FPS drop below 45. Silky smooth! Love the gameplay too. I just wish that they'd release BFBC1 for PC...
