Backlight Manufacturers: LED Prices to Drop 40-50% in 2009

Major notebook vendors like Dell and Apple are going to have a much easier time delivering those beautiful LED backlit screens in the near future, as the price of LEDs are projected to go down by 50%.
While the amount of notebooks that actually had LED backlighting in them was only 5-6% in the first three quarters of this year, that’s expected to shoot all the way up to 25% during this fourth quarter. Even still, it’s projected that up to 40% of notebooks will have LED backlighting in 2009.
At the current rate, it looks like LED backlighting will be standard sometime real soon. That’s a bright future that we look forward to.

Also aren't LCD's supposed to come down in price really soon anyhow because of the price fixing that was going on with all the LCD companies? Just from the news of the price fixing the prices of LCD tvs and stores online and brick and mortar have dropped by hundreds of dollars.

I don't know if the picture was intended as humor or not, but the arrow pointing to a mac and saying cheaper made me laugh

The MSI Wind already has LED backlighting. The screen is absolutely bright and vivid. It's a complete joy to look at.

You do realize that PC stands for Personal Computer. Which covers a huge range of products. Your cell phone could be considered a personal computer, Blackberry, iPhone, Android phone, oh ya, and a Mac. A Mac is just one type of PC out there.

Yes, PC technically means Personal Computer but as anyone with a clue actually knows it's refered to a Windows and sometimes Linux based machine, but mainly windows.
Go pick up any box of software used in the Audio/Music Industry.
Right on the box it says PC or MAC or both PC and MAC.If you buy a version of Cubase PC and try to install it on OS X you are in for a long ass day.....

Wow Carbon. You're considering not renewing your subscription because there is a pic of a mac in an article talking about decreased LCD costs? I'm hoping you're 16, otherwise there isn't an excuse for being such a big baby.
