AT&T Dropping Price of iPhone 3GS to $50
Androd is awesome and just keeps getting better. We also like what we're seeing so far from Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform. But if you really must join the dark side and invest in an iPhone, you'll soon be able to do so for less than the cost of dinner (fast food doesn't count) and a movie.
AT&T announced it will begin selling the iPhone 3GS for $49 starting tomorrow, January 7th. The new low price applies to both new and upgrade-eligible AT&T customers, who will be able to order their phone online or at any of the more than 2,200 AT&T retail locations across the country.
"We want to deliver the best, most complete package for our customers – from price, to speed, to worldwide access and more," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "Combined with our new, lower monthly data plans beginning at just $15 a month, this new price brings even more value to one of the most popular devices in our leading lineup of smartphones. We’re very excited for more people to experience iPhone on the nation's fastest mobile broadband network."
Our love for Android and WP7 notwithstanding, this isn't a bad option for anyone wanting an iPhone without worrying about wonky antennae issues.

But I am sick and tired of them pimping their uesless, expensive, metered data plans like they are the second coming.
There's good reason why AT&T is on the most hated company list. This is one of them.
Until these companies quit treating data like it's digital gold, and get with the program like most other countries, they can kiss my keyboard.

This is their desperate attempt to grab as many re-upped contracts as they can before Verizon and Apple team up. They know if they can lure enough people with an iPhone (even though it's not the 4), they might be able to save face before Big Red destroys their market share.
This just solidifies in my mind that the big red apple roll out is just around the bend.

AT&T touting the lower cost of their data plans is hilarious.
The $15 plan is limited to 200 MB/month. Conveniently metered at a level most Android/iPwned/BooBerry users would overshoot with regularity, with little to moderate use. If you exceed that limit, they hit you with another $15 up-charge. 200 MB/month - LMAO - that's about as useful as their MediaNet plan in this day and age. Their 2 GB/month plan is $25. Hell of a multiplier right there folks. Go figure...
Marketeers! Got to love 'em!

Hope you notice their generosity was a few months after they did away with the all inclusive data plan and upped the price of all the rest of them as well.
so now you will almost certainly go over your plan on data
while other carries move to the unlimited everything AT&T is happily imposing limits on your account but not your bill

MaxPC you accidentally misspelled "Android" and wrote "Androd" in the first sentence of this article.. just an FYI.

It may just be because MPC is the only site I tend to read on a daily basis but it seems like there is a serious lack of any proof reading or spell checking in the online articles.

Agreed!
And don't forget, it's CES Time which means it's going to get even worse in the interim - with all these guys having their heads in the tech cloud - so-to-speak.

"this isn't a bad option for anyone wanting an iPhone without worrying about wonky antennae issues."
And customers that don't care they're with one of the worst rated providers in the nation.
AT&T is consistantly rated at or near the bottom on anyone's survey. (Except their own of course.)

I just bought a 'refurb' iPhone 3GS and they gave me one in a brand new box instead. It's a 16GB black.
