Asus Expects Boost in U.S. Notebook Shipments to Come from Best Buy, Walmart
The PC market isn't growing as fast as it once was (though still expanding), economies in the U.S. and Europe aren't fostering lavish lifestyles for the masses, and good paying jobs are hard to come by. Some would argue that any job is hard to come by, period. Despite all this, consumers will still march into Best Buy to get their fix of electronics, and many will walk out with an Asus notebook in tow.
Perhaps feeling uber confident in Ultrabooks and their ability to fend off cannibalization from tablet PCs, Asus U.S. president Steven Change said he expects his company's stateside notebook shipments to jump by nearly a third -- 30 percent -- in 2012, DigiTimes reports.
Chang mentioned that Best Buy is the company's first retail channel partner in the U.S., followed by Office Depot as its second partner. Asus will add Walmart and Staples to the fold in 2012, giving the notebook maker two more major retail outlets to sell notebooks.
