Tablet or netbook? Asus' upcoming convertible Eee PC T101MT is a little of both, and if Amazon's German portal is any indication, it's just about ready to ship.
Amazon's listing has the tablet pegged at 12.1 inches, but it's actually a 10.1-inch display. It's also touchscreen capable, hence the tablet talk, and includes an Intel Atom N450 processor (1.6GHz), 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, Intel GMA3150 graphics, and Windows 7 Home Premium. In other words, everything you would expect out of a modern day netbook.
Don't be alarmed by the pre-order price, which is listed at 499 Euros, or a little less than $690. We suspect it will sell for $100+ less once it goes stateside.

The Eee T101MT is already on sale at qbitonline. It is priced at about US$580. The only drawback is that it is only available in Chinese, but at least it has worldwide warranty.

What!!! "Anything that doesn't have a form factor simillar to an iphone is useless"????? Do I really want to read an e-book on an Iphone? Even with all the nice scrolling and zooming features do I WANT to surf the internet on an IPhone if I have the opportunity to use an ... IPAD maybe? This form factor is great, to be able to rotate the screen and use it as either a pad or laptop is great. The only question is will it have an OS and software support to make this a usable multitouch device. Knowing microsoft probably not but windows mobile 7 does show some hope.

Color me totally unimpressed. The rotating monitor is a relic. Anything that doesn't have a form factor similar to an iPhone is useless. If people want a keyboard for their one piece tablet...they should hook it up using usb or bluetooth.
