Out of all the X79 motherboard pictures we've seen in recent weeks -- and we've seen a whole bunch of them -- not a single one has been representative of a micro-ATX mainboard. ASRock just changed that by releasing photos and information of its upcoming X79 Extreme4-M, a pint-sized board built around Intel's socket LGA2011 for Sandy Bridge-E.
Small in stature at an even-Steven 240mm x 240mm, ASRock's X79 Extreme4-M comes ready to rock out with Intel's enthusiast grade Sandy Bridge-E processors with four DDR3-2400+ DIMM slots (two on each side of the CPU socket), 8-phase VRM, solid-state chokes, driver-MOSFETs, three PCI Express x16 slots, a legacy PCI slot, a pair of SATA 6Gbps ports, four SATA 3Gbps ports, four USB 3.0 ports (two each on the rear I/O and internal header), a whole lot of USB 2.0 ports, GbE LAN, FireWire, PS/2, and 8+2 channel HD audio.
The board also sports a CMOS reset button the rear panel and a UEFI BIOS.
No word yet on price or availability.

That is going to be really weird... Other manufacturer's X79 ATX motherboards seemed a bit cram and yet ASRock can manage to put most of those features onto a mATX... The review should be interesting... May I assume the three PCI-e to be 16x(8x when CF or SLi), 8x, 4x?

Any word on price? I love my 2500K/Asrock extreme4 combo, but just curious how much I could expect to spend for x79.
