Right now you can get terabyte hard drives at roughly eleven cents per gigabyte. I'd switch over when SSD's are comparable to the performance and price point of Western Digital's 300GB VelockRaptor.

I have been using SSD drives when building systems from Dell for the execs I support.  I have found a huge boost in boot times and small file reads.   It even handles the large Outlook PST files somewhat better than the 7200 RPM Momentus drives I used previously.

Early adoptors always pay the price. Now HD's are the smart buy. ;-)

Pretty much what they are saying here.  Even tho a tweak or upgrade here and there does help, just performance will only move up to the next bottleneck.  Remove the speed bumps, then take it out for a spin.
