The wait is almost over folks, and in less than a month, the iPad frenzy will begin. Apple announced today that its "magical and revolutionary" tablet will be available in the U.S. on Saturday, April 3, for the Wi-Fi models. You'll have to wait until late April for 3G.
"iPad is something completely new," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We're excited for customers to get their hands on this magical and revolutionary product and connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive, an fun way than ever before."
Starting next week on March 12, U.S. customers will be able to place pre-orders for both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G models through Apple's online store, or reserve a Wi-Fi model to pick up on April 3 at an Apple retail store.
As a reminder, the pricing breaks down as follows:
- 16GB (Wi-Fi) - $499
- 32GB (Wi-Fi) - $599
- 64GB (Wi-Fi) - $699
- 16GB (Wi-Fi + 3G) - $629
- 32GB (Wi-Fi + 3G) - $729
- 64GB (Wi-Fi + 3G) - $829
Apple also said it will make its iBooks app for iPad available as a free downloading in the U.S. on April 3.

Now it has come out that it won't even support tethering... no even with an iPhone. You know, there are a lot of us talking about the iTampax, and they say any publicity is good publicity... I don't think so. Every day there is a new piece of news about what Apple decided the thing can't/won'd do. WTF? Nice f*cking model... honk honk.

That is wayyyyy to much money for basically a large screen iPod touch. Watch the prices drop a bunch within a few months. Sure the Apple Fanbois will buy them on day one but then?.......

WTF is this thing for? It's too big to carry in your pocket and too limited to replace your laptop.
The only thing I can imagine using it for would be sitting on my couch browsing the web...if I was feeling too lazy to open the lid of my netbook. Oh, wait, it doesn't do flash. Never mind.

I paid 499.99 for this puppy. I can upgrade it. Max 8 gigs DDR 2, any type of 2.5 inch HDD I want, plus endless tweaking as I need why? What? Want me to buy a POS 500 buck Lappy? Those are junk.

Guess what can multi task, has wi-fi, internet anywhere (courtesy of my cell phone), a 12inch screen, 250 gig hard drive, 2 gigs of ram, Nvidia Ion, dual core multi tasking and expandability options?
My Asus 1201n netbook.
And I only paid the base line price of 500 bucks :)

What really kills this device is that it can't multi task. Even my fucking phone can multi task perhaps because it's not an apple Iphone. It's an Android phone.
My phone I can have 3 or 4 programs running at the same time. Ipad is soooo dumb it can barely handle 1 and 2 not at all.
As a computing device it's utterly useless. Look you can't even run an office suite on it because that demands multi talking. This thing is stupid. And what about expandability? Nope you can't expand it at all by adding memory cards so forget about it. What you see is what you get.
Your battery dies and you want to replace it or carry multiple batteries for long flights to europe and back for get about it.
So really just how it this thing awesome? I would rather purchase an Android powered mini tablet when they come out or just buy the best netbook I can get and call it a day.
In fact the cheapest netbooks are far more expandable and can multi task from the git go. Just give me that convertible netbook/tablet with touch screen and I'll use it instead of the Ipad.
Apple already has some neato devices namely the Iphone, Ipod and Touch. Ipad really is a terrible idea that shouldn't have gone past the idea pitch stage.

Brilliantly said dear sir. I Believe that after a 2nd the new rule should be noted as having been seconded and put to a vote by the entirety of the union membership that is in good standing and then the rule can be ratified on the conclusion of a successful election.
So now we need a vote of everyone at MaximumPC including us the consumers.

For the love of any god, every tech savvy person in their right mind knows that paying 800 dollars for a giant gimmicky iphone with the same max storage as the iPod touch is getting RIPPED THE F*** OFF. I feel bad for anyone who buys it.
