These peeps will buy any iTurd sold regardless of what it is. At the end of the day their products are still selling to their target demographic, let's just call them the lowest common denominator.

Didn't we already go through this years ago when Apple had deceptive marketing (as they always do) that said Mac's were faster than PC's, only for them to lose in European court and have to stop with their lying ads.

avatar

Wingzero_x

Being that it was in a European court we'll never know then. EU courts are never friendly with US companies, just look how much Microsoft has to pay just for adding features that a user may find useful.

You're missing the point......

The reality is... by making these claims (unsubstantiated or not) without immediate proof to the contrary, or someone making them come out and state that "yes we lied", Apple already plants the IDEA into peoples' minds that "YES OURS IS BETTER".

You can't undo the damage of that by going to court a year later and having a court say, "Bad Apple!" It'll be a small little blip on the radar opposed to Apple's statement.

Politicians do this ALL THE TIME. They make generalized statements which become accepted as a "truth". The damage is already done because the idea is already in place. You'll be spending an inordinate amount of time and energy (and likely money) trying to undo what was done, and you'll NEVER be completely successful. Your Apple "fanboi" will grab it hook, line, and sinker and run with it all the way to the bank....

... where they will promptly sink their cash into a lie.

I believe it was Anandtech that did some benchmarks of the A5(not the A5X)and it ran circles around Tegra3. As much as I hate to admit it, this may be true.

It looks real bad when nVidia gets stomped by another company that doesn't even specialize in graphics. NOW is a good time for AMD to step in with dual and quad core Cortex A15's and their own blend of graphics goodness. A dual core A15 with just one GCN compute unit would destroy Tegra3 AND the A5X....combined.

It doesn't matter, all the Apple fanatics who gobble up iProducts will just use this slide as an excuse to go "Well, Apple is always better!"

avatar

Wingzero_x

On the flip side people that blindly say anything Apple sucks regardless of them actually putting the device in use, is just as bad.

Considering that the Tegra 3 and the new iPad can't run the same software due to OS difference, how is it possible to run a benchmark comparison?

CaptainFabulous

Wait, you mean Apple is engaging in deceptive marketing? No way!

Did you hear? Macs can't get viruses.

You do realize unlike PC, Mac/Linux/BSD malware requires a dumbass user to install it, and without that dumbass allowing it to install all it does is sit there..harmlessly unable to do anything. However in Windows you can still get your system hosed by merely looking a a JPEG, or even surfing the web, as Windows is designed to run code in the background with or without the users knowledge. If M$ really cared about their users they would've dusted off Xenix and trashed the Windows kernal.

That being said; it's my belief that even Windows would have a better track record with viruses and other malware if there wasn't so many dumbass users on it. I also have to commend Microsoft with their recent regard to malware, by allowing users to download software for free.

Over the last year there have been 2 different malware's for mac in the wild that do no require any user interaction to install itself. Now let's take to hand all of the mac users I've seen that don't even bother to use a password and it becomes even easier. Okay, so Mac's can have passwords and screen locks. Well I'm not sure how secure your really going to call a Mac when you can walk up, reboot in single user mode and totally reset the system admin account in less than 2 minutes and have full unrestricted access to that "secure" Mac you thought you have. I'm sorry but not even microsoft gets that stupid. You don't even need the dvd, flash drive, boot tools nothing. Just the keyboard attached to the Mac in question. I believe the performance chart above a complete Sham. You will never find me with an apple product unless im fixing it or hacking it. iOS was just updated to 5.1 to patch 82 security holes and the battery problem, 8 months later. Including a bad bug that allowed me to walk up to your passcoded iphone and have full access to your contacts and even call one if I wanted, all without your passcode. I wish all the damn Juice Drinkers would wake up a little from the fairytale world of imperviousness they believe they live in and take a sip of reality for a change and see that since you are now becoming popular, you are becoming a bigger target than before and starting to draw attention from the wrong crowd that made you choose apple over microsoft.

It's funny cause that was exactly the thing I was thinking of too -- those retarded commercials that were roughly 2% truth and 98% bullshit.

avatar

philipa25

Well, there is a billionth time for everything...

avatar

qhoa1385

This is the same with Apple's update for the 4S with their "4G" speed
put a badge on it, claims it better... typical Apple's move

While it is strange that no benchmark data was offered, I don't think it's going to matter one way or another what the scores were. People who were going to buy it anyway weren't making that choice based on how much better it is over the Tegra 3 chip, and these claims aren't going to push anyone to finally decide that the iPad is the thing they have to have.

Sure, it's a shady practice, but the only people who care about the performance are Apple fanboys who want to brag, and the slim group of people on the fence about which tablet to get.
