"The same judge saw no reason to grant Apple's request for a ban the first time Apple argued its case, but had a change of heart after a federal appeals court instructed her to take another look at the complaint."

California justice at its finest! The new Germany!

Seems to me the first time I saw the tablet idea was on "Star Trek".

I guess Apple has a nice double standard these days. Didn't they just say they think it was wrong to allow these types of injunctions, oh that's right its only wrong if the injunction blocks their infringing products but not if it's anyone else.

It would help if so many companies didn't follow Apple's industrial designs so closely with their own products marketed to compete with Apple.

Apple is not only a genius at using marketing to make consumers think they are "cooler" and "better" than other people when they buy Apple, they have managed to convince their business competition of much the same, which is why people have been straight lifting ideas and designs from Apple since Windows.

If it weren't for the fact that Apple, Inc. is such a despicable corporation, I'd normally favor them over any competitor that tries sell a clone of an Apple product. At least to me, you get points for originality or being the first with something people think is "cool," not for jumping on someone else's bandwagon and pretending it was yours all along.

Bill Gates helped design Apple's OS, so not exactly straight lifting seeing as one of the creators used code he helped create....

Apple is a genius at stealing other people's ideas and conceptions, then running to the Patent Office. They actually probably rent a room there and have people live there on a rotation basis.

Sounds like SOMEONE paid off a judge!

I can't wait for the contracts between apple and Samsung expires. Have fun finding another parts manufacturer, Crapple.

avatar

aarcane

I don't even remember what apple thought was infringing. Wait, is this the rectangle-with-a-screen-and-a-button case still? Even so, Apple only wants to ban the samsung because it's a superior product and more people want it.

avatar

acidic

yes, it's still about the rectangular shaped screen with a minimalistic interface. i could swear that TVs have had this for years now. i can't wait until apple ventures into the TV market and tries to sue everyone for "infringing their IP." atleast we are lucky enough that apple hasn't ventured into the music industry or anything similar, as they would patent every note, effect, and possible combination of sounds. i'm sure their lawyers are hard at work on patenting every other shape, color, and letter

avatar

Scatter

I suppose that's one opinion.

avatar

Engelsstaub

That's not even an opinion...it's hallucination. He said "more people want it." ...not in this universe or those iPads would be getting dusty on shelves instead.

avatar

warptek2010

So I suppose with Apple's logic then I and others would be forced to buy their product instead? Sorry, still not buying it.

avatar

vongjs

This is to show how, when you have lot of money you can buy anything included a Judges. That why apple will never get my money.

avatar

warlok180

Reality is: you were NEVER gonna buy anything from Apple anyway.

avatar

wolf17

You say that like it's a bad thing. hehe

avatar

LatiosXT

Wasn't there a ruling earlier in California where a judge basically said "Apple, nobody's going to mistake anyone else's product as yours and you make too much damn money that it's not going to hurt your bottom line."

Where was that judge?

avatar

Scatter

Are you suggesting that its legal and ok to infringe on a company's patent just because that company has more money than God?

avatar

sundropdrinker3

And exactly which patent did Samsung use? The power button? That wouldn't surprise me, as Apple has so many stupid patents. And when I say stupid, I mean things that SHOULDN'T be patents.

avatar

wolfing

if the current patent system had been in place 100 years ago, we'd still be cranking the engine of our cars with a handle, flying bi-planes and checking baseball games in our vacuum bulb radios (mono at that)

avatar

Cy-Kill

Well, at least they can still sell it in Canada!

avatar

big_montana

I live in Detroit across from Windsor, so if you want one let me know, it's a 10 minute drive over. I will only add an Apple tax for the inconvenience of going through border checkpoints!!

avatar

Cy-Kill

Why would I need you to buy me one, I live in Toronto!

avatar

BryceBooth

Yes by! We Canadians love us some Android.

avatar

PCWonder

The only reason Apple does this is they fear competition. They know there are superior products to their own out there so they have to use these kind of tactics to stop them from being sold. I think it's disgusting the judge actually ruled in their favor. I bet he was paid off by Apple.

avatar

Scatter

And the only reason that there are posts like yours is because there are irrational people out there who let their blind hatred for a company warp their common sense and logic.

avatar

gatorXXX

My hatred for apple is long standing. In fact, I will piss on SJ's tomb if and when I get the chance.

So what? Apple didn't steal(or copy)any of they tech they use? Common sense tells you they have. They ALL are evil in a way but apple takes the crown...This is my blind irrational logic talking....

avatar

Diablobo

Hey Scatter...how much was your last check from apple? Do you get any benefits, or are you an independent contractor? Just wondering.

avatar

gatorXXX

LOL, according to the NY Times, the apple folk at retail stores got a raise because of the backlash of the occutards.

avatar

warlok180

Agreed.

avatar

AETAaAS

You can still buy the Galaxy Tab II 10.1, so I don't think this will affect Samsung much. Would be nice if Samsung appealed for the sake of spiting the bad fruit of the tech world though.
