Apple: No Wi-Fi Scanning for You! (in App Store)
According to Softpedia.com, Apple is no longer welcoming Wi-Fi scanning apps in its App Store, giving them the same ban as apps with adult content.
"We received a very unfortunate email today from Apple stating that WiFi-Where has been removed from sale on the App Store for using private frameworks to access wireless information," the developer of WiFi-Where says. "It also appears that all other competing Wi-Fi enabled apps have been removed as well. This is very unfortunate as the past 2-3 months have seen a handful of new Wi-Fi apps get approved. Hopefully Apple will allow this functionality in a future SDK."
Similar apps that have been given the boot include WiFiTrack, WiFiFoForum, yFy Network Finder, WiFi Get, eWifi, and WiFi Analyzer. But what's most puzzling is Apple's inconsistent stance. Some of these apps have been been around a long time, while others were blocked until November 2009, at which point Apple approved them, only to now get kicked out.

In Florida and in most other states there is a State Statute that states ; unless publicly posted as a Free internet access portal , It is considered a FELONY 3rd degree to use any WI-Fi acess point without the direct permission of the owner, and to use the Wi-Fi consitutes a theft of Bandwith. Thats the problem they ran into! SO in essesance Apple is accessory to Felonious activity. However they personaly still feel the apps are/were a good idea... Driving your car down the neighborhood youd be accessing multiple access points without permission.

If that's the case, then Intel, Atheros, Broadcom, Dell, HP, Microsoft, all Linux distros, Google (Android), RIM, etc are also accessory to a felonious activity as you can use any of their WiFi utilities to look for any wireless networks in the area and connect to one.

It's almost like they have a kid just hammering away on a Mac keyboard at the "App approva/reject" station.
I wonder what'll be next. Map and GPS apps? Because they can be used to track someone!!

apple can no longer make up their mind. First they pull off apps with adult content and now this, I feel like they are slowly falling apart
