Apple Nixes Bitorrent Control App

Sure, Apple’s app store has been known to make its fair share of senseless moves, but this one just about nears the top of the list. Recently they rejected Maza Digital’s Drivetrain, an app that would allow users to control the Transmission Bittorrent client from anywhere. Why? Because those that use it are infringing upon rights, of course!
Apple’s reason for denying the app was because “this category of applications is often used for the purpose of infringing third party rights.” So, while there are millions of legal torrents available and it’s quickly become one of the most popular ways to download files, those that use it are (and I’m paraphrasing here) criminal.
Well, at least you can still get Ze Frank’s free iPhone app. I wonder if they’ll try to deny it too?

If Apple is right about that, then we shouldn't be able to run that on apple computers also. Anyway I'll think they will see the other sides because nothing has only one side. Thank you.

Bittorrent is GOOD apple, you silly kids! Open source projects love bittorrent because it allows the community of users to share the downloadable ISOs without hammering on mirrors and taking up bandwidth for mirror providers. Bittorrent, in the grand scheme is good.
Sure, it CAN be used for the roots of evil, but so can an Apple computer. Then again, everything Apple makes can be made for the root of evil, but it doesn't have to.
Plus, the more I think about it, this may be Apple's strategy, which is genius. First, REFUSE to abide to users and be the DRM nazi to appease biggies and corporations. Then, when the dust settles, flip the switch and don't worry about a thing ;). Out of the box thinking, same reason why OSX uses BSD+Mach kernel, I love it.
