Apple, the Coach b-a-g of technology. Does the same thing as similar products but costs more for the name. Run lemmings, go get your already outdated and overpriced tech.

Hello my name galaxy 7 and am quadcore and much faster than the ipad mini and cheaper. And who mocked two years ago the small screens on tablets saying that had no place in the market for the 7 tables. "WHO? Here Note: The decision ........... launch an iPad Mini was always rejected by Jobs.'s charismatic founder and former CEO of Apple never approved of small tablets-rather they were mocked. But the market demand. the Cupertino are seeing significant bets as competitors Google and Amazon have already made their bets, betting a 7 inch. and Apple always used to give the bell and get ahead in the market, has given this time. joins a trend that other opened long ago. although I'm agree on the ultimate apple not always innovation rather a technology popularized in most existing occasions.

for me personally, Apple is giving the last because it can not compete with Google's tablet (google nexus 7), and now we know that Google will take a 32 gb and the jelly bean 4.2 and an improvement on the screen, I think maybe I'll wait next week to buy the new and improved even more (google nexus July 32 gb) and many people will be the same and for a more reasonable price .... ..... windows 8 actually I think I will go to hell and they will die, jajajajajajaja

"Getting back to the iPad Mini, it sports a 7.9-inch display with a 1024x768 resolution, same as the iPad 2."

Wait, that resolution is confirmed? A 4:3 resolution that low in 2012?! Talk about a step backwards for Apple. Apple has, sadly, been the only mainstream company willing to push display resolution past the now-ancient 1920*1080, but this is a step in the opposite direction.

This tablet's screen is significantly larger than my phone's, yet it does not contain significantly more pixels, which signals significant suck for the image quality :(

I agree with your comment ....

I've never wanted to watch a company crumble so badly. Sad to say, I shouldn't be that invested and never have been before. Apple just begs to be hated by all those with common sense, yet those without still amount to the majority.

$329 is outrageous. I find it hard to believe ANY 7 inch device to be worth much more than the $199 most charge for them. But $329??

I guess the pricing strategy is to ensure that the iPad Mini doesn't eat into iPad3 sales? That's the only way I see Apple rationalizing that price point.

I'm just waiting for Google's announcement in a few days. I've been waiting for a 10" version of the cheap Nexus 7, but sadly it looks like they didn't make a '10" Nexus 7' but instead made a 'Google iPad' (i.e. expensive high end 10" tablet). I was hoping for something like a $250-$300 Nexus 10 but it looks like it'll be a $450-$500 device.

avatar

Strhopper

if they can get it at $399 I'll be buying the 10 inch nexus

this assumes that the rumors are correct about specs

Ugh... bet you're right.

Not a computer company anymore. They make one toy in three different sizes. Pitiful, and nauseating. They embody the creativity and innovation of a dildo manufacturer.

avatar

ApathyCurve

I believe you are selling short the creativity of dildo manufacturers, Doctor.

me too me too !!! oh wait they don't copy or follow others. they only "innovate/invent"

I am mostly a Mac guy even though I have two DIY PC desktops--high performance, but built just for fun. I continue to more an more annoyed by Apple. The company is becoming more and more arrogant and less thoughtful of customers. I very recently purchased the new iPad. Now, out of the blue, Apple has announced an upgraded new iPad. The time frame here, a relatively few months when it comes to upgrades, is way too short to upgrade an expensive piece of equipment (mine is the top of the line). I will stick with Apple, but I'm going to continuously express my feelings about the unfriendly and unethical things, in my opinion, Apple is doing on an apparently now recurring basis. But, of course, I won't do so on the Apple forums since critical posts are summarily deleted. F**k you Apple.

avatar

wolfing

wait, were you unhappy with your iPad before the announcement?
Did your iPad suddenly become slower after the announcement? did it stop working? did it stop running apps?

Since the answer is probably 'no' to those questions, what's the problem? so, you don't have the top of the line anymore, but who cares? your device still does everything it did yesterday.

That's the main problem with Apple buyers, that Apple has built into them the mentality of "Need to have the latest model!".

Just keep enjoying your iPad, and in a few years when it breaks or can't run a new app you *need*, at that time, buy a new one.

avatar

znod

Silly questions won't be answered. But, in reply to one of your questions/issues, the point is that I want some of the new features and would have delayed my purchase had we been clued that a new new iPad was on the way--way before the typical time between Apple model upgrades. And, you are silly to think that I might not keep enjoying what I have. You also don't have a clue about Apple users think (especially me) and what they have or have not been conditioned to think.

avatar

warlok180

Agreed.

I like Apple products and they do a great job in their marketing to make us want the latest model. In this case, I'm happy with my 3rd Gen iPad and feel no need to upgrade to the latest one.

There's no reason to upgrade and your current tablet is not anymore obsolete than the first iPad. Majority of apps still work on the 1st gen.

avatar

znod

You apparently replied to the wrong person. Regardless, I didn't say anything about upgrading my new iPad--which is something I wouldn't do at this time given my cost/benefit analysis. I also said nothing about any iPad being obsolete. And, I said nothing about apps working or not. Not only did you reply to the wrong person "physically," you also apparently imagined the person you were attempting to reply to.

Huh? I thought the iPad mini would be a tablet. Wait, that's not possible, as it would be DOA.

Remember Steve Jobs' comment in October 2010? "The 7 inch tablet is dead on arrival." Yeah right.

Another iLie and iScrewupconsumers.

I really enjoy the Apple iOS device line-up. They work nicely and are very well constructed. They are not power-user devices for sure, but they do things like streaming video, online news, ebooks, and key essential apps without issue in my usage.

However, I have to say, the Google Nexus 7 tablet base model at 16GB for $199 seems like the best bang for the buck. If the iPad Mini was say around $250, I might differ due to the eco-system advantage of Apple. The base model of the iPad Mini starting at $330 makes it an upper-echelon device which shouldn't be too surprising really seeing how Apple caters to this economic demographic. I think I might just buy a Nexus 7 this Xmas if I have the spare 200 bucks.

"I think I might just buy a Nexus 7 this Xmas if I have the spare 200 bucks."

THIS^^^^^^

Apple will never "fail" because the masses of masses of sheeple who will ALWAYS buy the latest Ooooh! Did you see? There's a new iWidget! Did you get the new iWidget? I'm gonna go get the new iWidget!

but, the thinking crowd will ... think ... and look at value and overall experience.

The unthinking crowd - and you can tell who they are, just simply wouldn't be happy with a thinking person's tablet. They NEED the apple experience. Which is, the unthinking experience.

That said, I do think the ipads are nice pieces of hardware, just bad value and annoying culture.

avatar

warlok180

Yep. $329 is a bit steep for the mini. It should at the max been priced around $250. Maybe $299.

yawnnnnnn.... NEXT

0.2mm? I think we have a conversion error here because 0.2mm is about the thickness of two pieces of paper.

Also, the PPI of the N7 is 215. PPI of Ipad mini? 162. That. Is. Terrible.

avatar

I'm well aware that these will sell, but it's funny to see people pay the Apple Tax.

I wonder how many buyers also own the 10" iPAD.

Apple doesn't make a 10" tablet though the Ipad does come close.
