AOL's Layoff Avalanche Starts Today
Happy new year, here's your pink slip. So goes life at AOL, who began laying off workers in small doses today. And for those who left work without a change in employment status, the waiting game starts now, as AOL looks to let go of more employees later this week..
According to a statement from AOL, most of the notifications will go out Wednesday, including employees in both Europe and in the U.S. For those residing in the U.S. of A., a spokesperson says the company will be offering packages to lessen the blow, including "severance, benefits, and outplacement assistance, among other things."
Late last year, AOL offered a Voluntary Separation Program in which workers were asked to voluntarily give up their jobs in anticipation of the upcoming cuts. The company claims some 1,100 employees opted to the join the program, but it wasn't enough.

When i had AOL we would complain about how slow it was. They would keep adding Ads making it slower. If it was not so cheap through work $3 a month then $5 a month i would not have it. There is no way i would pay there going rate.
