If your two favorite things in this world are Star Wars and Angry Birds, brace yourself because we're about to blow your mind. The two mega franchises are joining forces, so to speak, in a new game appropriately called Angry Birds Star Wars, and it's launching next month! According to Rovio, the upcoming title will combine the elements from Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space with the characters, stories, and settings of the Star Wars universe.
"This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away," said Peter Vesterbacka, the Mighty Eagle and CMO of Rovio. "As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one."
The collaboration doesn't end on the software side. If there's one thing Rovio and George Lucas have in common, it's a penchant for merchandise, and you can expect a lot of it from Angry Birds Star Wars. Everything from themed Halloween costumes to action figures and plush toys will be available at select retailers starting October 28, Rovio said.
Angry Birds Star Wars will launch to iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows 8 on November 8, 2012. No word yet on price.
This whole capitalizing on the popularity of Angry Birds is reaching its limit I think. Soon there is going to be a backlash and Angry Birds will become a hated pariah and will die a death faster than that of disco.
No, no it will not be remembered as fondly as Disco. AB didnt help to get anybody laid or stoned and in 30 years people wont be listening to the Angry Birds GOLD album. And yes, i have ABBA on MP3 player.
